The Thing People are Forgetting About Cam vs Other Young QBs...

Even if I gave you those 2 (rather crappy QBs anyway) you'd still be  2/8 and I stopped at Manning...we can go back...

Point is and will always be you draft players in the first round and especially #1 overall  to come in and start.

Cam is preceded by Vick, McNabb, and Cunningham to name a few.

He may be the first in the new era of these types of QBs but he didn't revolutionize anything...

No, Vick didn't start until November either and those were the first three I looked at.

But I really don't give a poo about arguing semantics.

This is a question I want you guys to answer for me regarding Cam.  Before I ask, I want you guys to know despite me being tough on Cam recently I am not ready to give up on him as our QB.  And yes, he could use some better weapons and protection. But as a player, just looking at Cam Newton himself:

Is he a better QB now that he was his rookie season?

I don't care about stats, drops, coaches, etc.  Just by looking at his mechanics and analyzation of the game, do you think he has made significant progression as a QB?

Surrounding offensive talent has overall deteriorated significantly since Cam played in 2011

The players around him have nothing to do with his footwork not getting better and his accuracy being all over the place.

Also has nothing to do with him not going through his progressions.

I think that the real answer is....we don't know.

On the field, he seems to be the same, and possibly regressed.  We don't know if this is the league catching up by having film, not working hard, poor coaching, or shell shock.

I am going to gamble that it's a mix of all of the above.

Cam needs to improve, but this team as a whole needs to improve.  We have been sailing with no rudder for far too long.  We had a GM that was the worst in the league, and we are still cleaning up after that mess.

We need some real talent at a couple of the most important positions on an NFL team.  Tackle, WR, CB, HC, and OC.

Thank god we have a couple good DE's, a great MLB, and a good young QB to build around.

All Cam does is lose games. Cam 14-22, Luck 15-6

Cam ain't clutch like The future GOAT.

If Luck came out a year earlier you'd have a winning team right now, deny it all you want.

What has the GOAT won?  Clutch?  Has he come from behind down 24 at Alabama or won a national title by himself?

Summary of 2013 season....

Luck's team blocks a field goal and returns it for a TD which is the difference, and his D also intercepts Wilson on the final possession.  Cam gets a DeAngelo fumble and no stop from his D to get the ball back.

Luck's team gets an INT in the red zone to preserve a win vs the Raiders, Cam gets swiss cheese D which gives up the game at Buffalo.

Luck gets to play Jacksonville, Cam gets dropped passes on critical plays from his top 2 WR's against Arizona.

Kaepernick- 4 Years, Nevada

Wilson- 4 Years, NCSU-Wisconsin

Luck- 4 Years, Stanford

RG3- 4 Years, Baylor

Dalton- 4 Years, TCU

EJ- 4 Years, FSU

Geno- 4 Years, WVU

Cam Newton- 1 year at Florida [doesnt really count], 1 year at Blinn college [title], 1 year at Auburn [title]

If you dont think this amounts to anything tangible, i have a bridge for sale. Cam is still growing with his game, and it sucks we havent given him the tools to become the QB we all know he can be.

I honestly do not care about those other 7 QBs. People get caught up in comparisons and rankings when they don't mean poo in the NFL. Our QB could be Brian St Pierre but as long as we win games I'm happy.

YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND.

Luck WILLED his team to those victories.

The defense was inspired by Luck's GREATNESS.  Luck just has IT.

And by IT I do NOT mean the ability to grow a full manly beard.

    • Dude you're all over the place. Bryce definitely played better than average down the stretch last year. That's what I said. I dont think it's controversial, and I think it's true based both on stats and by actually watching him play. He was the 6th rated passer by PFF during the last 8 weeks. In no world is that below average You trying to twist this into something else is a you thing.  Have a great night
    • Exactly He's played two seasons and started 28 games. He's well beyond the point of being able to point to 2 or 3 games and being able to say, "THAT is the QB he is and will be in the future" Of course he can get there, but anyone trying to use just those couple of games to rank his place amongst the games QB's today and their full career's worth of playing at that level, is just asinine. Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Hurts, Herbert, Daniels, Stafford, Goff, Geno, Purdy, Baker, Love, Dak, Tua, Kyler, Lawrence That's 17 QB's right there that have played better over their careers than Bryce has played at his best.  And I'm not saying they're all studs or guys I'd want to be our QB moving forward, Tua for example I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, but his body of work is a million times better than Bryce's has been. It's also not including any of the other QB's drafted in 2023/2024 other than Daniels. So again, say you believe in Bryce, say you think he's going to prove he can and should be our QB of the future, that's all fair and totally fine. But nobody can say he's been an above average QB in his career thus far, it's just an asinine notion.
