So... Panthers control their own destiny.... right?

True story. We are built like the Jets too, but better IMHO. Top D, good run game, & dual threat QB.

Exactly what I was about to post going through this thread.  We have a very similar make up to the Jets, strength in the same position, dual threat QB, defensive minded coach, but better overall players.  I think our familarity with the Saints, the players being extra fired up because of how much this team hates the Saints, and how much this game will mean to get into the playoffs will help us crush them even more.

Most definitely. These are exciting times for the panthers. It's been a long time since we could be excited about controlling our on destiny about getting to the playoffs. We should send the Jets a thank you card before we stomp a mudhole in them in december. I believe this team is for real. They are playing with attitude and playing as a team. Even when Cam had a subpar game, the rest of the team stepped up. The notice is out.....The NFL should be aware that the Panthers are out there and they are not backing down

I am not sure what an above par game is with Cam but it's good to see this team realizing that he is just one player of 22.

Watching the Texans play last night reconfirm what I've been saying on here for the longest. Football is more than just physical. It's also just as much a mental and emotional. It was heartbreaking watching them simply lose spirit and eventually the game, after the situation with their coach. It was quite evident how much him not being there, affected them.

I have seen those moments with the Panthers where the spirit to win just seemed lost. They would have a lead and before you know it, it was gone. Everything that could happen did.

Yes, it does seem as if the Panthers now control their destiny. The question is, where do they see it end and have they created the mental and emotional spirit around them to get there? Wish them all the best. I strongly believe the Panthers can make the Play-offs. The question is, does this team believe they can make it?

They don't control their own destiny though because they must count on other teams losing in order to advance.

Are you sure?  10 wins should put them in automatically as a wild card given the weak NFC East.  Even if it doesn't, these teams in the NFC control their destiny:

Saints

Seattle

San Fran

Arizona

Chicago

Detroit

Green Bay

Washington

Philly

Dallas

If any of those teams wins out, then they don't have to rely on any other team.  Again, it is an over used term.

I don't think so. They can't guarantee winning the division because they are too far back of Carolina and NO. And there are too many teams ahead of them (12) that they don't play.

I think it depends on when in the season it's used. Even at the half way point, it's a little early to start talking about controlling destiny for anybody. With 4-5 games left makes more sense to start those conversations.
