what 49er fans are saying

IMO, if we can stay on schedule on Offense, we can score some points. If we can score some points, it will put added pressure on their O. Against our Defense, that added pressure could prove fatal.

All things being equal, I like our chances to show that we truly have arrived. Fear the Cat.

Hey sh*t stains. I just wanted to come by and say bad luck this week. I hope the 49ers mop the ground up with ya.

However, every other week I'm rooting for you guys. When you went on facebook and messed with the Saints "Free Payton" campaign, I was in stitches. Quite possibly the best football thread I've read. Especially since it was against the Saints with their flag football team and self entitled fanbase that cries every chance they get. Ever since then you've been my #2. This week though, you are public enemy #1.

Regardless of who wins, lets hope we have an injury free game and we both steamroll to the playoffs.

Fuggin classic NorCal bro right here.

They NEEDED to throw in the two butt kickings they had this year. It is a safe assumption you likely will NEED to throw this week against a stingy Carolina D.....which will be the toughest you have faced all year.

I agree, the 49ers have an edge on the OL.

Both teams have the same gameplan....put it on the QB. Significantly more has been asked of Cam as a NFL QB than Kapernick.....we are starting to see the payoff this year.

Good thing the offensive lines don't play eachother.

Hi guys... If you remember, I hung around here the week before we played in the season opener. I told you guys to keep the faith after the game, 'cause I knew you guys had a baddass team! Just had to come back and say "Told you so!" 'cause you were so negative about your team at the time. With all that talent on Defense and Cam at the helm, there was no way you weren't gonna put it all together eventually. Now the fans of other teams that used to tell us Seahawks fans "yeah, but you almost lost to the Panthers" can SHOVE IT! Hey, do us a favor and KILL the 9ers! You guys are the hottest team in the NFC right now, and unfortunately, the game will NOT be shown on TV up here in Seattle, damnit... Rooting for you guys BIG time! GO PANTHERS! WHOOHOOOO!!! Whup some Niner ASS! Maybe we will have a rematch in the NFCCG! Good luck the rest of the way guys...

This game favors SF in every way---they are coming off a bye, they are at home, and they are getting a few injured players back. They are the defending NFC Champions.

The Panthers, on the other hand, are going to start old players at G we waived in the past.   We are going to count on a WR who could not crack the lineup in SF; our best WR is 5'*8" tall and 33 years old.  We are going to start 2 CBs who were recent free agents and did not get a sniff.  The other CB is an undrafted rookie from SW Louisiana State Tech or something.  Our Starting FS was a backup SS for the Raiders last year.  One of our key DTs had not been on a roster for 2 years and the other drew no interest in the free agent market this off season.  The other 2 are rookies.  Our best OLB has had 3 ACL surgeries in the past 5 years.  How did this group of mutts ever win a game?  SF needs to buckle up, because this group has nothing to lose which might be why they haven't recently.

Expecting a playoff type atmosphere in a hard fought game that will probably go down to the wire. Panthers certainly have my respect and will probably be in the playoffs so this might be a preview of things to come. Anyway, I'm hoping for a good, clean game with no significant injuies.

I am so f***ing ready for this game!!! Cali guy here and have to deal with this crap everyday! All in all, tons of smack talk at work. All my friends are heading to the game, I decided not to go (Been to a Car vs Raiders game a fews years back, not going back again!) I'll enjoy every bit of it in my living room!

I gave up emotionally when we were 1-3, and thought it would be a repeat of 2011 and 2012. But man ole man was I wrong!!! Feels freaking good to be back in the hunt!!! I bought me a Carolina hat 4-5 weeks ago at a local quicky mart (Amazing fine!!! Usually nothing but 9ers, Raiders, Cowboys, and Rams gear around here).

Anyhoot, flash forward to today, we are 4-0 when wearing my panthers hat that I both for $5.99!!! Wore it for game time the past month and have won every since!!! UnFreaking believable!!!!  B)

Here's to beating dat 9er arse!!! Sunday can't come soon enough!!

    • I’m not mad at Moehrig.  He’s great at what he does.  And to be honest, a lot of my favorite safeties in our history were box-first type guys - Maxie, Minter, Mike Mitchell, Chris Harris…  they’re first and foremost objective was to put people on their backs and coverage was secondary.  There is a place for that.  There is a definite need for that.  Physical guys that set the tone.  So cool, we have that in Moerhig. But what we have lacked for the vast majority of our existence is a true free safety that cleans everything up on the back end.  Sometimes they come in the form of a JOAT, like Peppers.  I think he would be a fantastic compliment to Moehrig’s strengths and weaknesses.  If we don’t go after him, I certainly hope Ransom is given the chance to grow and develop in real-time with real game reps, because what he did in preseason was very encouraging to see.  I hope he can grow into that roaming center fielder with a little bit of an edge to him as an enforcer as well.  He has the tools.  In the meantime, adding Peppers would only help.
    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
