Why our run D will win or lose this game

Brandon Weeden....yeah, even Weeden grades out by PFF better than Kapernick this year (and that is overall grade and Kapernick has rushing to bring up his grades and it is still in the gutter). Kapernick of course has his moments but talk about being overrated thanks to your team around you. A little surprised the media chooses to look at the glass half full always with this kid.

I mean, you don't ever hear the media talk of a 2nd year slump (they have always lumped him in with the rookies).....his play has been significantly down after teams have a full season now in the books.

Didnt know that on his PFFF stuff... but he has looked very good at times and has typically avoided costly mistakes that lose his team the game at least the last 4 or 5 weeks, similar to Cam.

I think both guys are explosive and talented and I don't think looking at Kap's stats reflects his ability.

49ers can say what they want about choosing to run.....and that lowering passing stats but PFF simply looks at how good you are when you do it. Kapernick has been bad. National media would want Newton benched out of fear he could derail the teams chances. The media is comical.

Downplay the 49ers Run Game if you want to, We'd like it even more if you do :D

Might want to read again....I wasn't downplaying it. I was pointing out Kapernick's play has been poor.

So as the point of the thread was....if we can stop the run and make you pass.....our odds of winning are pretty dang good IF we can do that. Hence why our run D would win or lose the game.

I don't think there is any doubt as to the strategy we take.  49ers running game is better than the passing game.  Shut down the run, and force Kaep to pass. Same thing we did to Seattle.  I HIGHLY doubt that Kaep can make the same insane plays that Wilson was able to, though [granted, that one throwaway luckily found a Seattle receiver].

If we do that and Cam can handle those intermediate throws while avoiding the pass rush and also dropping one or two deep, we win the game.  I still think it will be close.

    • I used to think Juan was a Zod alt. Agree he's a great poster.
    • Hawks said nah we good and sent him to the shadow realm aka the Wizards. Cold blooded. I mean they're 2-2 in a series with a young up and coming Knicks team largely through 34 year old CJ McCollum. Even if they ultimately lose the series at least they are there and have something to build on. I think Hornets fans are just beaten down and lack the objectivity to assess the situation. They think we are going to get so much worse if and when we finally change gears. Worse how? We've already been a lottery team for years now. We've already been looking to win our first playoff series in about a quarter century. We already can't get past the play in and in failing to do so we have completely embarrassed ourselves twice looking like we don't even belong. Honestly there is absolutely no excuse for a team like the Magic to be more competitive and successful than us in the playoffs. Absolutely disgusting. But that's just me. I was fuging lit when we got the Hornets back in Charlotte but that is old old news. It's time for these boys to get into a playoff series. Enough is enough. If they can't do it for 2026-27 then they need to make wholesale changes regardless.
    • Not one single pick that is asking me why we drafted a guy in the first place. It was a guy we needed and/or a guy that had certain traits making them stand out. Best of all, I feel everyone we drafted are capable of stepping onto the field this year and have a meaningful role (even Kuwatch on special teams). Obviously, nothing is guaranteed but I'm not seeing any huge flags on guys because they're risky projects or massive overreaches.
