Not if the NFL refs follow their own rules.

 

A receiver has to maintain possession of the ball THROUGH the process of hitting the ground.  

 

I've seen "catches" called incompletions using that rule time and again.

 

Now will they overturn it?  Not so sure.

Call me crazy, but don't you have to maintain possesion through contact with the ground? The ball doesn't need to be moving before he hits the ground if it comes out, unless I'm misunderstanding the rule. The fact is, he hit the ground before making a football move and the ball came out, unless having a defende tackle you counts as a football move.
