What is the reason for the offense ALWAYS starting out slow?

Truth is, the run game hasn't been there, and Cam has missed a few throws.  Shula tries to be too cute on 3rd and short with his 20 yard bombs.  And the offensive line has suffered from injury, lack of talent, and inexperience.  We are not a good offensive team; solid, but not good.  We have the talent, for sure, but something is not clicking.  The question is:  would you take an elite offense in lieu of not being able to win close games?

Because the running game has started off flat. Shula likes to establish the run early. Lately when we run the ball we are lucky to get three yards so that leads to a 2nd& 7, we might run again and only gain a yard, that is 3rd &6. The defense knows that we will have to pass and they dial up the pass rush. Ideally we should be looking for 3rd & 3 or better because it gives us various plays to chose from.

Let's see, what can I complain about during a 7 game winning stretch...

Asking a simple question, we probably wouldn't have been in the situation we were in had we gotten off to a fast start. Can't do that against teams like the Saints. Thankfully we were just playing the Dolphins.
