the one year he was special teams only he went to the pro bowl.

Hardly wasted.

Still he should have had more snaps at WR. Smith should have about nine 1,000 yd seasons by now.

One thing that I think helps 89's case for the HOF was that he was right that he changed the game. He was the first of his kind and the only one  to this day to dominate on the level that he has. Desean Jackson, S. Moss, G. Tate, don't have sht on Steve Smith

This was everything I was hoping the E:60 interview was going to be, but wasn't. It's great to see a feature story about Smitty that isn't primarily about him punching teammates, and him being a great player despite his volatile temper.

He's a compelling character, great person (believe it or not) and one of the fiercest competitors ever to play the game. The big sports media tend to show him in a different light because it's easier to bring up the well publicized past than to do any actual reporting. And it's a shame, but thank goodness for articles like this.

Also, if he gets a Taco Bell franchise, I don't care where it is, I will road trip there like a Grateful Dead fan just to say I've been in Smitty's restaurant. (That it happens to be my favorite fast food franchise is just a happy perk!)
