Can the Panthers run on New Orleans?

What I'm afraid of is that we will limit Tolbert touches with the ball. We will probably mostly only see him on 3rd downs and red zone. It frustrating sometimes because they will abandon a player when their hot. With that little 2 cents I hope we use Tolbert like we did last week more touches. If it ain't broke don't fix it unless it shows you other wise.

The Saints seem to be pretty good at stopping run from the few times I've seen them.  They have some real big bodies on their front and seem to be aggressive attacking the run.  My guess is we will have big problems power running up the gut at first.  I would attack them with counters, traps, sweeps.  Hopefully by 2nd half we can pound some iso, power, and slash plays.  I also agree with some of the others that said Cam should see a more significant total of carries this week.

Well, what if thats the second play of the game?

Sounds like Chud right there.

"Well crap, only 14 minutes left in the first quarter and we're not getting yards on the ground.  Not enough time left to run the ball - better start chucking it."

I think we are going to see every type of blitz known to man. Whether its a run blitz or passing. I think we need to do a lot more screen passes than what we have been doing to try an neutralize it. The only factor that no one has been able to account for so far is cam running. I would like to see more designed runs for him this game.

That would be a mistake Rob Ryan would not make. Can kills teams that blitz him.

Put our QB at risk vs. a team that is notorious for a pay to injure scheme? No thank you. Cam was injured in the Superdome last year. Give the rock to big sexy. Deangelo historically has dominated the saints. We rushed for 5 touchdowns in New Orleans last year and Cam did very little of the work.

this isn't a garbage game against the worst defense in the history of the sport.

This game matters.  This game isn't Rivera talk...it is the biggest game we have played in a LONG time.  We need this.  Cam is our best player and that includes being the best ground threat we got.  We run him against a team and DC who don't deal with it well.....

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
