Roman Harper is a nincompoop

From NOLA.com, an excerpt from an article about Steve Smith:

Smith has never had trouble speaking his mind, and he's spoken his piece on the Saints over the years. When new of the Saints bounty scandal broke, Steve claimed he'd been a target.

Two seasons ago, he got into a scuffle with Saints safeties Roman Harper and Malcolm Jenkins after Harper rushed him in the end zone following a score.

"We had a date. We went on a date once. It was nice," Harper said. "We went dutch. He payed for his. I played for mine. It was what it was. That was then. This is now. I don't hold grudges or anything like that. ...

"Nobody knows how this thing is going to play out, man. At the end of the day, it's a highly competitive game played by a lot of emotional people, and sometimes things happen. A lot of things are going to happen in between the white lines. That happens sometimes. I've moved on. I'm sure he probably he has, too, he has things going on his life, things that have happened since then. It's been a couple of years now, and it's always going to come up everytime we play these guys and every time I see Steve. It's one of those things, and I did what I did."

"...Harper rushed him in the endzone following a score."

"Rushed"? Really? That's what you call a blatant late-hit? Fuging pussies, own it.

Also Harper's ramble about going on a date is the most brainless, meaningless, humorless tripe I've ever read in my life.

In fact, he sounds scared.

I'm calling Steve Smith's first 100-yard game of the season tonight.

a friend of mine who is a Saints fan said when he thinks about the Panthers, he thinks of thugs...yea...This was actually uttered by a fan of a team who had a bounty program and spying equipment installed in the opposing teams lockeroom.  The Saints are such angels, and we're the thugs.  I hope we put 50 on em tonight.

i thought they denied having the bounty program. this is pretty much admitting the whole thing.

and that fanbase has the audacity to call anyone on our team a thug?

pieces of poo...all of them.

Their fans, and players both still deny it, even Drew Brees.

Never mind the fact that both Gregg Williams, and Sean Payton admitted it happened.

    • After last season, it was the same question. And the answer most people came to was "If he doesn't make the playoffs, he's gone." He made the playoffs. No matter how it was done, we made it to the playoffs. He's safe. He's going to have a chance to keep working this out, even if next season isn't a playoff one.  I think we'll do better next year than we did this season. There's something being built here.
    • The NBA is a very fickle league. Kon is one of the hottest rookies in years and beyond just his play on the court he is a very steady competitor and that translates to the rest of the team. That has been a glaring absence with the culture of this franchise through the bulk of the LaMelo Ball years that's just being completely blunt and realistic. The enigma of LaMelo Ball is he is entering year 6 and still either red hot or ice cold. We need him to find that sweet spot. Logic dictates the Hornets will want to see this core again next year. But the clock is beyond ticking at this point. It's put up or shut up. Especially considering what the Thunder managed to do recently. I'm hopeful they can keep these wins rolling in and get some much needed playoff experience under their belts which will help substantially.
    • I think as long as the Panthers are competitive with Canales they should keep him. Pepper needs to repair his/the teams image as a place prized free agents aren't hesitant to consider. Just dont do any crazy poo for a few years.
