Baseball in the Carolinas

I think they were talking about bringing the Minnesota Twins to the triad in the 90s.  They were thinking about calling them the Triad Triplets.  And I think we may have come into the conversation when the Expos moved.

I remember that, I forgot how cringe worthy the name is.

Baseball is huge in Wilson county and the surrounding area. Our cpl team, the Tobs, routinely packs the stadium during the summer. I don't even like baseball, and I go the games. Granted it's as a DD for thirsty Thursdays, but I'm there. We also host the Babe Ruth world series and have the NC Baseball Museum at Fleming Stadium. There's so much baseball in this county, it's crazy. Little League, Babe Ruth, American Legion, WCYAA, and then all the traveling teams. Not to mention all the softball. Then right up the road a few minutes we have the Mudcats.  Up until a couple of years ago, Kinston had the Indians.

I can certainly see Raleigh having MLB if they did away with the Mudcats and Bulls.

Baseball is huge in Columbia we all have great college teams in the area and I think some would migrate from the Braves huge fanbase which spans the carolinas georgia and bama.

No it won't. Did putting a football team here convert lifelong Cowboys & Redskins fans?

Braves fans aren't going to switch to a shitty team in the area.

Um..yeah. A lot of them no but some yes. What do you think every panthers fan was born in 1996 or only started watching football because the panthers came to be.? I remember when I was little and didnt watch football my friends and I liked whoever was popular which at the time were the Cowgirls and the Packers. I was even named after the Cowboys (Dallas) Point is people flip flop teams all the time nowadays . I would love to not be a giants fan for baseball anymore but there are no teams that catch my appeal insert a Carolina team and it makes it possible.

And who cares if they're bad? The gamecocks went 0-12 one year and sold out every game. People will all have their own reasons for switching but forgive the field of dreams quote but "If you build it.. people will come rg3and10..people will come"

If we brought baseball to Charlotte, we would be (I'm guessing) the smallest metro area with three major league sports teams.

We fill BofA OK but much of that is due to PSLs. Last time I went to the bobcats we were the only people in my row and the guy sitting in front of us was doing a crossword puzzle for most of the game.

I don't see adding 3,000,000 annual tickets as being sustainable. I would foresee 5,000 fans on a Tuesday night.

Raliegh would be the smallest metro area in the country with an MLB team. Probably would do better than Charlotte but still not sustainable.

People saying the triad are drunk. Greenville, SC would be a better option
