Getting pressure on Brees will change a lot of things for their offense.  Carolina plays a lot of soft zone coverage and if you give Brees enough time in the pocket, he will shred the defense.  

 

On offense, they need to score TDs in the red zone.  Because when the Saints get to the red zone, they score TDs.

That may be true, but in the last game against New Orleans, the Saints scored TDs on 4 out of 5 trips to the red zone and kicked a 19 yard FG on the other (meaning they were practically on the goal line).  Carolina meanwhile only got into the red zone twice.  They kicked a FG early in the game, then scored a TD at the end of the game on 4th down.  So not only did New Orleans beat them in Red Zone %, they did a great job preventing Carolina from even getting there.

Given his experience in the NFL, I would guess the latter is true, but either way you can find better analysis on the internet for free.

He actually can talk both basic strategies and complex schemes depending on the audience and their expertise.  He does a great job interviewing coaches and players and obviously gets more technical as the situation requires. However one of his gifts is to be able to make something complicated understandable to the veryday fan.  His book is quite excellent and does a great job explaining basics and then going into more complicated concepts as the reader's interest is piqued or his knowledge expands.

 

As for better analysis, he is generally considered one of the more knowledgeable guys behind the mike. He was talking about the games this weekend and who he thought would win not engaging in in depth analysis of how the panthers can win.  Give the guy a break.

Sirius is about the best place to listen to coach interview, players interviews and discussions about football typically by people who played the game and in Kirwin's case was a general manager for the Jets.  If you miss him you miss a gem.

 

 Funny that you would criticize him for giving a shallow analysis by making an even shallower analysis given you haven't even listened to him enough to have an informed opinion.

Yeah re watching the game.. we missed a lot of jams.   I don't know how we fix it though.  You can't give the Saints receivers clean releases and we don't have the play making ability to run straight man for any extended period of time.  Seattle did a lot of dropping lineman into coverage.  Plus they do have the ability to play straight man.  Same with Rams..they actually have the secondary that you can play man and not expect to be torched.  Going to be interesting.

You are right our scheme does require good man corners on the outside. You know that finding a couple of good corners is a priority going forward whether through the draft or someone already on the team. We are going to have to go with who we have and hope they can make plays like Captain did against the Jets. At this point you know what you have and what you don't. At this stage of the season you need to be playing at a playoff level of performnace if you want to go deep into January. Guys are going to have to step up and make plays on both sides of the ball. Whichever team makes the critical plays at the right time will win. It has always been that way and this Sunday is no different. I hope whatever they did during the game which was successful 2 weeks ago they come out doing right away mixed with better execution and a better pressure scheme. I think we come out confident and motivated. Like we did last year against Atlanta. They need to come out mad. Just like Steve Smith does every game. It is time for him to break out. Lead the way and cement his place in Panther lore. The icing on the cake. Make a resurgence with the playoffs in sight.

We tried to play physical like Seattle did with our corners and they failed.  We missed jams and not only did we not disrupt the timing, players were running wide open.  It's almost like we saw how well Seattle played and we decided to do the same with our cornerbacks. Our DT's did not play as well as I anticipated.  The Rams, Seattle, and Jets DT's played monster games. I know everyone seems to be preaching more pressure on Drew Brees.  However looking back at the games they have lost it's definitely a mix of coverage and pressure. The Saints also run the flare out by the RB better than anyone.  Our lb's have to basically disregard the chance of the wheel route and really get to the ball.  The Rams played the flare outs really really well. Also we did not do a very good job of disguising coverages.  The saints ran double routes into our cover 2 zones all day so if we are going to continue to run it as much as we did, we are going to have to disguise it better.

I hate N.O. but they have to command your respect. That team is extremely dangerous, even on the road. I understand they are a great team in the dome. And they have struggled on the road. But if we play the way we did a couple weeks ago,it will have the same outcome.

But for the most part the OP post is pretty dead on. Only we need to burn that gameplan from 2 weeks ago!

One thing for sure is them penalties have got to get cleaned up! We need to play "our game" but we need clean execution. So many drives have stalled from penalties, and it is getting old. 

 

And i am still pissed about them bastards taking out Stewy, he gave us such a spark in that game..sorry i had to bring that up.
