Panthers are "very close" to a contract with brown

The Panthers are "very close" to a contract agreement with second-round pick Everette Brown, according to NFL.com's Jason La Canfora.

Most mid-rounders will sign by week's end, but getting Brown in camp on time would be a nice coup for Carolina. The Panthers gave up a 2010 first-round pick for the Florida State defensive end, which could've caused leverage problems in talks with his agent. Brown was the 43rd pick overall.

Kind of funny to say that about a rook starting in that sentence when Otah himself did.

Would be sweet if EB signs this week!

Speaking of which, last year gave proof that a lot of misconceptions about Fox were largely incorrect, but then again I'm not sure how many of the critics were willing to see it.

Oh sh1t...

Recent reports have revealed that Everette Brown will hold out of TC and demand a trade. Brown, the 43rd pick of the 2009 draft, stated that he does not believe he can reach his full potential in John Fox's defense. Brown and his agent have reportedly suggested 4 teams for GM Marty Hurney to seek trades with. Brown's agent has also stated that Brown would feel more comfortable in a 3-4 defense, as an OLB. This despite Brown never playing 3-4 OLB in college.

BREAKING NEWS:

It appears that Carolina DE Charles Johnson has also requested a trade per ESPN. Even though he is not a FA until next off season he will hold out. Sighting his differences with the team, he believes he has maxed out his potential in John Fox's defense. He and his agent have reportedly given 4 teams for GM Marty Hurnery to seek trades with. This puts Hurney in bind considering Johnson is one of the league's elite DE's.

    • 5 straight completions in the 4th quarter to get into the red zone and then score a stand up rushing TD and celly in one of the best defenses faces to bring the score within 1 possession against the super bowl champs is "stunned" to you?
    • yes, if you read what I said - that was due to his record breaking 245 yard 4th quarter performance in garbage time when the Seahawks were already celebrating. If Bryce puts up big numbers in the 4th quarter, people like you are quick to call it garbage time stats but seem to get selective when other QB's do it because it doesn't fit your narrative.  also, I'm logical enough to admit that Drake is a great QB and his performance had a lot to do with his protection, play calling, and other aspects. The game does not fall completely on the QB. Just like how the Panthers were still in the game vs Seattle until Horn's penalty changed that. It is a team sport, so many factors, players, refs, coaches are involved and it only takes one thing to change the game. the obsession with Bryce is just nauseating at this point and if you pay attention on here, it's the same 10 users quoting and pieing each other. it's super weird and everywhere else you go, opinions on Bryce are trending upwards. the way the season ended, the vibe at the stadium, the performance, should have everyone excited about this next season. Idk, maybe I just look at life and my entertainment outlets differently than others.
    • Are we sure something hasnt happened to him because that seems pretty shitty to simply abandon this place
