Why is our stadium designed to dump rain water on fans?

Serious question.  Is this the norm at most NFL stadiums?  Or is it something where Jerry was like, "It would cost waaay too much to have a proper drainage system, so let's just make this Emerald Point 2.0 in the case of a downpour."

 

 

I imagine the brass back in 1993 or whatever thought extreme weather would not be too common, so that's why it's designed this way.  Yay global warming!!

It's happened twice in 18 season. I'd say that is fairly uncommon.

It was probably just one of those things that was overlooked during design. It happens so infrequently that it really isn't cause for concern though.

It doesn't make much sense...  obviously it was designed that way from day 1...  probably not much they can do about it now.
