Rosenthal just can't give up on his Luck love (though he's good at giving Cam the credit he is due)...

The next generation is coming. Russell Wilson,Andrew Luck and Ryan Tannehill all progressed.Cam Newton "matured," which is media translation for his defense getting better (Newton never was exactly a problem). Nick Foles came out of nowhere to bolster the 2012 rookie class.

Next level

5. Ben Roethlisberger (6)

6. Russell Wilson (8)

7. Andrew Luck (6)

8. Cam Newton (14)

9. Nick Foles (N/A)

Let me see here... Cam has a higher QB rating than Luck?

Check.

Cam has a higher yards per attempt than Luck?

Check.

Cam has more TDs scored than Luck?

Check.

And (using last years NFL "expert" criteria) Cam has more "wins" than Luck?

Check.

And, just guessing here (and using yet another of last year's NFL "expert" criteria), but I think Cam has more "clutch" "comeback" wins this year than Luck?

But Luck is the better QB?

OK.

People are so ingrained with the thought of Luck being the one that they can't fathom anything less

Isn't this the same fool that rated Kaepernick and RG3 higher than Cam last year (and said he looked at Cam's Rookie season as well), by claiming they were more accurate than Cam (not taking in account the systems they played in)?

I remember, I vociferously disagreed with him (if it was truly him), cause I knew neither Kaepernick or RG3 were legitimate pocket QB's, especially compared to Cam. And now everyone knows this.

And Luck has done nothing this year (at least compared to Cam's situation), while playing in a weak division, which pads his wins stats, even though they did win a few nice games. But nobody's afraid of Indianapolis.

Luck is really good....I dunno why some of y'all can't get over that.

You're missing the point. No one in this thread is saying luck sucks. However every measurable category says cam is better than luck but these "experts" can't stop picking luck over cam.

I don't think they're that similar as passers at all.  Luck is definitely more consistent with his accuracy, but he doesn't have Cam's arm.  Luck is still the more polished pocket passer at this point.  The biggest issue both guys have right now is a weak WR corps.

Disagree with this whole heartedly.

Luck's neither very accurate, and certainly not consistently accurate, or even assuredly a better pocket passer than Cam (though he's good), comparatively speaking.

Have you watched him play regularly, or are you going off perception, pre-draft, or what media tells you?

They're very similar already, with Cam having far more upside potential.

And I like, am a fan of Luck.

How did Russell Wilson, go up, when his team lost this week, and he's been playing poorly the past month?

Is it cause, they're the only team with 3 losses still, out of the "next line" QB's mentioned.

And how was Cam #14 previously? Is it because, the NFL media, finally got a chance to see Cam operate during the end of that game vs New Orleans (and therefore should have been higher to begin with, if they were actually watching his games)?

I've watched 5-6 of his games and stand by what I said.  I think both franchises are very happy with their QBs.  I'm glad we have Cam.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
