Officially Concerned about the Offense

Hilarious how pissy the strawman builders get when their strawmen fall apart... lol.

Hilarious indeed.  :thumbsu:

And not surprisingly, they haven't figured out, if you give someone an intelligent response, they actually may respond to you accordingly. But of course, they probably don't want that to begin with.  :startle:

I just take it as white noise (and let's see how many of them misinterpret that)!? You can't make this up/LMAO

See this is why so many people defend Cam.

Because his critics are generally THIS (above) full of poo.

10 seems high. But he has averaged about 4-5 high over throws a game over the past 3-4 games.

But, it is easily correctable and due to footwork. Cam abd Dorsey have said they wirk on his footwork and weight transfer every day. It will be corrected.

Its been a long stretch w/o a break.

A lot of Qbs have stretches through out the season where accuracy is lowered.

Give him the bye and a break , you will see a refreshed Cam come January 12th.

I didn't have the heart (or depleted brain cells) to tell him.

Every QB misses throws during a game, even open ones (especially this time of year).

When will they understand, you will never get a QB throwing 100% ANY TIME, mind you ANY GAME. It just doesn't happen. There are always misses, bad throws, poor footwork, miscommunication, loud crowds, bad routes, dropped balls, pass rushes, and bad offensive lines effecting every QB's throws. Thats' just the way it is.  Perfection is desired, but rarely achieved.

Misses only become a major problem when they start coming at alarming rates or majorities, and/or effects the team from winning, or their confidence in said QB (especially unprovoked). Some QB's are streak throwers as well and need to get into a rhythm (mentally, game, or mechanics wise) before they feel settled. This is especially true of big armed Quarterbacks.

This is not to say, Cam doesn't need to improve in certain aspects. Who doesn't? But it's ludicrous and quiet embarrassing to see the daily critiques off relatively innocuous misses during Panther wins, for a third year QB who appears to be improving and working on his game to begin with. It happens.

Do we write strings off daily threads critiquing how bad Luke is--at times--in pass protection (though we know this is true), and how he needs to work on this? Why is that?............................................

I'm assuming we don't, because there's no perfect football player (especially in their 2nd year). My guess/take; we have to give Luke time to improve in those areas? Shrugs.

I think you are right.

Two weeks to rest, focus, and work on the little things will be huge.

Telling the truth is not criticism, it is reality.  Cam was 1 for 8 with a ZERO QB rating in the second quarter.  How many playoff games does that win in your world?

Cam needs to play like he is capable of playing all 4 quarters and stop counting on the defense to hold down the fort until he gets it worked out. When Cam figured it out vs the Saints and rallied for the win, we had run 44 plays vs. the Saints 81.  You don't win games that way too often.  22 minutes of possession vs. the Saints' 38 minutes.  That is not getting it done--our D saved our butts, but those who only see the scoreboard think there is no room for growth.  We need our offense and its QB to bring it for 4 quarters, not 4 drives.

Lately, we are not dominating the time of possession.  We have not for 5 weeks in a row, and we were leading the NFL in that stat before the Dolphins game.   I assure you that the Panthers are concerned about this and are working to improve it.

In the 2nd quarter, Newton went 7/12 (or 6/11) with Hixon causing an INT, LaFell dropping an easy one, DWill fumbling away a redzone possession and McNutt mis-playing a beauty in the endzone.  He also ran for 45 yards.

Play-by-play for the second quarter

Also, the moment we dedicate even half the resources towards offense that we have towards the defense, we can start demanding the offense carry us. Until then, as we're a defensive team, the defense damn well better be "saving our butts".

    • No, the casual fan gets sucked into THIS^^^ kind of thinking, and it's so woefully incorrect that it's almost sad. The first is what I've said numerous times, NOTHING about non guaranteed contracts save the billionaire owners a single penny, because they still have to spend their cap floor, and the only reason teams ever don't spend the full limit, is to then roll it over into the next season to be able to spend more that year. But in the end, owners pay the same amount of money no matter what. The reverse is also the same, that the players in totality make the same amount of money as well, because in your example of Clowney not getting that money this year, it will go to another player, as the cap needs to be spent. And you say how we just cut Clowney after we gave him the 2 year contract, but everyone including Clowney's agent and himself, knew when it was signed, that it was more likely to be a 1 year contract than a 2 with how it was structured.  The 2nd year was just to be able to spread out the cap hit and he was always most likely going to end up getting traded or cut. It's why agents and players don't care about the total money in a contract, it's always and only been about the guaranteed money, as the years and overall value are meaningless, always have been, always will be.
    • Agents will have their 1st round picks hold out until the pay structure of their contract is to their liking, not how much money they'll get or even how much is guaranteed, just the when/how they will get the money over the course of the contract. If they're willing to recommend those players hold our, do you really think they won't do it for 2nd rounders to guarantee them an extra 10% of their entire rookie contract?
