Hardy contract and Johnson

Hardy every day and twice on Subsay.

Peppers was an athletic freak. But he had nowhere near the heart and work ethic of Hardy.

What's scary is that Hardy hasn't reached his peak. Hardy may not be the freak that Peppers was but he is damn near close. Similar enough to display results with a great attitude and work ethic.

Hardy came through and rallied that defense to a win in ATL. He dominated when he was supposed to dominate. That was something that Peppers rarely did.

That just extends the cap hit.

The Point being-that it is lessened each year. Ultimately we keep him for longer. Cam will get signed, I just wish we could go back to the days where Mike Vick got the 10 year 100 million and it was unheard of.

Does the cap include the rate of inflation, or are we paying more money for less without an increase in the salary cap to compensate?

Really? Estimated Cap room 13M, 2013 franchise tag for a DE almost 12M. Both numbers are expected to increase but even if Gman can move some things around it doesn't add up to be possible, not with all the one year contracts we have this year. Not to mention trying to sign him and Cam in the same year?! Let's be realistic. It's a hard pill to swallow. The only way it works is to make a long term deal that's heavy on the backend, that way it's staggered from CJs heavy years. Only take a hit of 5-7M over the first couple of years. That would leave 6-8M to simply field a team next year, but probably not address our any of our weaknesses. We need some GMan magic!

If we sign him long term we can have a cap hit next year in the 6 or 7 dollar range. We had something like 10 million to carry over to next year plus a higher cap.  Each year as we proceed we are likely to have less dead cap space than we do at this point. So if we get through 2014 things should loosen up when the TV money finally gets factored in.

Hardy has an unbelievable motor .

They use him inside and they use him outside. You do not let a guy with first round trade value just walk.

Panthers don't have to resign Cam this coming season.  Yeah it would be nice to lock him up but we still have another season to do it.  Panthers have a 5th year option for Cam.  So they can use that.

Yeah, treat the guy whose been carrying the offensive side of this team for three seasons like a second class citizen. It's no wonder no real talented players break their necks to play for this team.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
