1st Round TE?

Rules&Regulations

Recommended Posts

lol.

A tall dude who will barely run a 4.62 at the combine.

"Make him a WR".

good luck with that.

No need to ridicule me. It was just an idea on a boring off week.

BTW What's Jimmy Graham's 40 time? He lines up at wr over 60% of the time.

I'll give you a hint; it's slower than Ebron's.

Before you correct someone you should educate yourself on the topic.

You take the best player available based on need, but still the best left in the board. Everyone thought we were nuts for getting keek with beason on the roster, look at us now.

Of course we need a wr, but I think gettleman will do fine.

bit of a difference taking bpa at 10 to 17 and taking bpa at 27 to 32

I think people are forgetting we have like 5 offensive lineman on ir. While we only have one WR under contract next year. WR should be priority #1

This may make a lot of sense, but folks are in "I want this guy mode", so sensibility is not in the equation.

Does Shula even know what to do with two pass catching TE's?

I'm at the point where I'd want BPA of our needs when our picks come up. Needs being OL, WR, and CB. Tight end is a nice thought, but I'd rather have a faster receiver who can run Shula's loooooong developing plays quickly - so Cam doesnt have to be running for his life. And OL will help the running for his life too.

This is a valid question. Can he design plays for 2 TEs? Or are they not convinced the TEs we have can run that set well enough? Cam had his best year when we had 2 good TEs. Seems only logical to try and implement that set more often. Why we don't is the question.

Personally, I want a Stud WR first. We have O-linemen up the ying yang. Our DBs are playing well. The one thing we do not have is a Stud out wide.

I'm sick of the projects all over the place. I want guys who can start day one. We was very lucky draft Smith in the 6th round years ago. No one knew Smith would turn out this good. But that was the luck of a draw pick there and I'm glad it turn out well for us over the years. But since then we have had crap WRs for the most part since Smith. We need a new top WR for Cam to throw to. Only play we will get guys like that is 1st or 2nd round. Screw the late rounds project crap. Sick of hearing it and I want to see our team get a Star WR this coming draft. Smith has very little left in the tank and he might play one to 2 more years at most. Lafell,Ginn, and the rest of those guys will never get it done. Bottom line 1st or 2nd pick of the draft. We need a very talented WR. Plan and simple.

Smith was a 3rd round pick

Ebron is great but I feel this is mainly supported by you tarheel lovers....WR is the most important need....Give me Mike Evans alllll day but he prbly won't be available, I'd be happy with Benjamin from FSU or Montcrief from ole miss.....I know all you Clemson supports will crucify me but I'm not big on Sammy Watkins as a #1 in the NFL, I'm no expert but it's just my opinion either way we need a big time WR, give cam some more weapons and we will be SCARY

If you could get someone to trade without it mortgaging the future, then I would support a move up the board to get Ebron - but if its expensive, then no way.  I agree 2 ballin TE's would be of benefit to our offense and take some pressure from Cam and the run game as well.  But then you have to go OL next. Then BPA for all remaining pics.

Look back to all of our games this year and when we had Shockey.  This team is best when we grind out 6 - 12 yds per play and keep the chains rolling.  We flat wear out opposing D's and keep opposing O's off the field.  Its the best of both worlds - positive yardage and clock running.  Flashy long ball plays look great on sports center, but the % of success on those plays is much less than what a good TE tandem can give you on a consistent basis.  Bonus is that with enough success, you force the opposing D to go nickel in order to cover both consistently - thus helping the run game.  Throw in a great slot guy - Smith for at least next year and you're set.  You really only need 1 speedy WR to break their back like that - and we have that guy already = Ginn.

The recipe has been cooking up in the North East for a long time.  Pats make WR's look legit - yes, Brady has something to do with that, but they made it work with Cassel too - he looked elite.  The system is what really makes them successful.

Love all three TEs, but at this point we really need a down field threat. Let's be serious too. How long are we going to keep on waiting to finally find a successor to Smitty and give Cam a legitimate playmaker?

The only way I would see us targeting a TE in the 1st round is if we decides to also take a WR in the 2nd round. And, address OT/CB through FA.

1st Austin Jenkins

2nd Moncrief

Cam and the run game will be happy

You hit the point the OL can't stay healthy and its not like the talent on IR is top notch that can make a game difference. We need to build OL first then WR.
