1st Round TE?

Rules&Regulations

Recommended Posts

I wouldn't be adverse to the notion of A TE at all.  A big, athletic TE with good speed and excellent hands who is also a decent blocker that would provide Cam a safe check-down or sneaky down-field option would be a godsend.

Of course that would speak volumes about what the coaches think of B-Will.

This may make a lot of sense, but folks are in "I want this guy mode", so sensibility is not in the equation.

This is a valid question. Can he design plays for 2 TEs? Or are they not convinced the TEs we have can run that set well enough? Cam had his best year when we had 2 good TEs. Seems only logical to try and implement that set more often. Why we don't is the question.

Personally, I want a Stud WR first. We have O-linemen up the ying yang. Our DBs are playing well. The one thing we do not have is a Stud out wide.

I'm not sure I'm ready to say cam was better his rookie year than this year. Although I also would agree the two TE set is a great lineup in today's nfl. I just can't justify a top pick on a wr unless it were top 10. I say we get a solid OT that can upgrade bell possible supplant gross. Cam is his own weapon. I'd rather him have more time with less talent than more talent and running for his life.

A guy I'll be watching closely tomorrow night is:

Kelvin Benjamin!

This dude has the physical build to be the next Megatron.  At 6'5 it will be harder for Cam to overthrow him and he can be a monster in the end zone going after jump balls.  He is expected to be a late first/early second round pick.  Great chance for him to be there when we pick.  You can coach a lot of things but 6'5, 220lb, 4.6 40 are attributes that you either have or you don't, it would look like Cam lined up at WR.

I was referencing the fact that we lead the league in big plays, and with Shockey Cam had that extra security blanket. But, we did throw the ball a lot more that year as well. Especially down the field.

I do agree Cam is a much better QB this year than in his rookie year. I just feel he would benefit greatly from having another TE he could utilize. Although we do need that Stud WR for the future, having another TE would help Cam immensely.

I also agree that unless Gman is totally sold on a WR in the first I would rather grab a Tackle. We have a bunch of guys that can play inside. Especially if Amini and maybe Kugs are healthy. We do however need 1, maybe 2, if Gross is not resigned, OTs.

IMO, our Oline is our major weakness at the moment. Upgrade the Oline and we will not only run the ball better, we will pass block better. That alone will make us a dangerous team. Add a good WR and we should be good to go next year.

This is why I am so excited about this off-season. We are close to being a very complete team. I want to see how Gman goes about improving us.

Yea i am hoping he fall to us in the 2nd round....my scenario is

1st- OL

2nd-WR/TE

3rd-OL

4th-WR

5th-DB

6th-TE

7th-OLB

My proposal if we cannot get Ebron which is unlikely, is to grab Brandon Pettigrew in FA. It seems he has fallen out of favor in Det. and can be had relatively cheap. He's a hell of a blocker and a receiving threat as well.  Think Hartstock 2.0, it would really open up our offense. Either way I'd like to address the position this off season.
