Tag Da Kraken

Some have said sign him long term, some have said let him go as he will demand a contract that will cripple the team.  Was this the peak of his career, most certainly was his best year.  There is no doubt in my mind, that Hardy will remember what this loss feels like and it will consume him.  He will destroy people next year.  12-4 was fun, 16-0 is gonna be sweet.

Our stable of RB's are going to prevent us from doing a lot of things.

Tag and trade maybe?  Love to have him, but signing him means very little else in FA.  Means we only have the draft to get WR's, OL, and CB's.

Means further that Ginn, Mitchell, etc will get no raise?

Not arguing that we'd like to have him, just that $$$ might prevent us from doing a lot of things.

Tag and trade imo. Yes he's solid but seven sacks came in the last two games mainly against a banged up atlanta oline. What I seem out of Addison and Alexander we got enough to replace him until we can address replacing him full time, there just to many holes on this team to justify giving him the money.

Our db corps is prob worst in the league and our offence is just pathetic, if we don't want to ever see the best of cam newton in Charlotte then trade the guy now, he needs a line and weapons if this isn't priority over hardy and stocking the defence up then as I said we may aswel let cam go! Were a defensive built first team and I'm sick of the Oline/Offense going without all the time

tagging Kraken, trading 1/2 of double trouble will allow carolina to address the offense.  getting a 3rd for either deangelo or stewart would be great.  And drafting at 28th, I say trade down in to round 2 picking up an extra 3rd.  Now you have 2x2's and 3x3's to load up on OL/CB.  WR is best addressed through free agency.  The ciritical part is wtf to do with Shula.  Just dont know whose out there thats available that would be better.

Nobody in there right mind would take Stewart for a third rounder he's just too injury prone to take a chance on.

A 3rd for either of them is a little steep. One's a pro bike rider and the other is aging.

I really don't think we could get a 3rd for either one of them.  I would be shocked if we did.

Nobody will give ANYTHING for DWill or Stewart.  We cannot give them away because of their contracts.  No team in their right mind would take on those salaries, much less give up draft picks to do it.

Let's explore the Tag situation.  Don't think we will get 2 firsts, but tagging might get us one first in a trade

    • He’s kind of overrated to be honest. Never really felt like a true #1 or elevated his play to become a guy the defense really has to worry about.
    • I'm going to be real, the reason that vote ended up so lop-sided by the end was directly due to my programming. So there's nothing tongue in cheek about it. Also I left PFF after the Collinsworth acquisition (didn't want to move to Cincy) but have stayed involved in analytics via backdoor channels, but I can absolutely say that the experience was eye-opening, not because those guys are unquestionable football savants and that I became one by proxy, but because the amount of information that becomes available outside of what the typical fan has access to is revelatory and also really drives home how much context is still being missed even with all of that information. You don't discover that you know everything, you discover how much you still can't know no matter how hard you try, hence my point about the NFL not being able to figure out what makes a QB good. There's a lot of AI work going into that now and even that only seems to further confuse things vs. actually enlighten the problem. In the professional realm teams don't really talk about quarterbacks as A strictly being better than B, but how A can potentially perform better than B given a specific context of C. Of course those contexts may be wider for A than B, but there's also contexts where B can outshine A, even with lesser talent surrounding them. So what good teams strive to do is ultimately define a process of how they want their entire team to operate under schematically, find players that fit that scheme, and hopefully find a guy whose skillset will be maximized running that scheme with those players. Where bad teams fall of the wagon is constantly shifting those schemes and chasing bad fits or fads vs. sticking with a core identity and developing it.
    • there is a 100 mile long list of NFL players and coaches going to bat and defending horrible play from teammates.
