Chances we keep Shula?

Correct.

Having the least number of offensive drives in the NFL impacts total yardage stats.  Cam improved this year.

It also means that you HAVE to get it in the end zone at a very high percentage. I'd be willing to bet that the TD per drive % went down drastically right around the first Saints game.

According to stats our Oline isn't as bad as people suggest it is so if it's not the line then it's all on Cam/Shula and the weapons on offence.

with not looking at those so-called stats, but just watching games, run blocking was worse than pass protection, especially from more traditional, pro-set formations.  most success came from Cam running or towards end of games when opposing defenses were worn down.

Does the QB holding the ball get tallied on the oline? Idk if our guys isn't getting separation or the routes are taking long to develop or both, but as Cam mature that clock in his head will go off. There's no clock with Kaep and Wilson cause they ready and want to run. His 1st year he was gone lol. I think offseason that'll be Cam biggest thing to work on. Im glad Cam has came that far, but if teams playing you like a pocket passer, take off especially if lanes right there open

A lot aeems to be with limited time in the pocket he's given although watching games you noticeably see our receivers rarely find seperation only ones who do are Olsen and Smitty and the later is double covered most of the time! We need to find players who can run routes and get seperation, but this also comes with a good Oline to stand up which it did yesterday first half and for cam to make quicker decisions, that first pick seemed a rushed throw to me he was on his backfoot not going trough the throw so it sailed got tipped and picked! Although lafells pathetic attempt to make anything on it was just a joke.

means opponent does too....

We played much better defenses at the tail end of the season.  That always impacts numbers when you do that.

People here seem to forget that in Cam's 3 years he has already had 2 OCs. If you replace Shula that makes 3 OCs in 4 years.  Most any knowledgeable analyst will tell you that quarterbacks like Alex Smith struggled because he kept having a turnstile of OCs and different systems.  If we don't want to set Cam back we need to tweek the system and even give Shula help to improve if needed but not scrap the system and start over again.

It isn't the best but it isn't broke either.  Throwing out the baby with the bathwater is not the solution here.  Shula needs to stay and we need to give him more tools to work with including another go to receiver and some offensive linemen.  Some of those tools may be on the team already like Silatolu and others need to be acquired.

The issue is not Shula, it is the players we have we have around him. We scored an average of .6 less a game this year than we did last year, and only 3.5 pts per game less than in 2011. Given that we had a defensive lineman as our starting RG and our LG was a retread that was not on the team at the start of the season, I think Shula did a decent job. Next year we should see a jump in performance on the offensive side of the ball as we did this year on the defensive side. Plus we play the NFC East and the AFC South, plus Seattle at Seattle and Green Bay at home. The schedule on paper looks easier than this years turned out to be.

Oh, let's be real people. How many coaches get fired after a 12-4 season? Does it even matter how badly their unit performed compared to the others when your team went 12-4 in a market that hasn't ever had a season with that much success? Did anybody get fired after the Tommy Jone fiasco? Nah.... it's just the way the game works. You don't gamble like that.

Do I agree a change should be made? Perhaps. But I do like some consistency in the coaching for Cam's sake. Hopefully Shula adjusts.
