Giants letting Nicks walk!

This.  Here is the rub, people.

1. NOBODY knows this guy's potential better than the Giants.

2. Tom Coughlin is a no-nonsense coach.  He acted this way under a strict coach.  Rifvera is probably not as strict as Coughlin.

3. The Giants know that they could get him cheap and they are still letting a young WR walk.

4.  Gettemen has inside info on Nicks and the Giant front office.  He knows the scoop.  If the Giants do not want him, Gettlemen will not want him.

5.  The last thing Gettlemen wants is a threat to the locker room.

6.  I wondered why the Beason deal did not involve Nicks.  Gettlemen probably could have worked him into the deal and the Giants probably would have let him go if Gettlemen wanted Nicks.

I think we are going to go with a veteran (Cotchery, for example) and a rookie.

I would like to see him here but you cannot argue with this logic.  If Gettleman had wanted him back during the Beason trade.  He would have taken him.

I don't think the Giants were ready to deal Nicks because 1) they were still in the playoff hunt at that time and needed him and 2) they probably felt they were going to resign him after the season.

To most teams it just matters if you can produce. He proved this year that he can and he didn't let what happened in the offseason effect anything. In the majority of players and gms minds it's old news and most will not care.

He won't get a Wallace contract but he will get paid handsomely this offseason that's for sure

Was it all him, or was it Chip Kelly's fast paced offense?

I'd hardly refer to a man at a country concert surrounded by all his white friends angrily calling a black man the n word "old news". It's going to follow him everywhere he goes, there are consequences for your actions in life, and quite frankly he got off pretty easy in Philly. It will matter.

Go back and watch Nicks throughout the entire playoffs during the Giants most recent Superbowl.... Then let me know if you still don't want him.

It's a what have you done for me lately league.

By this logic, we should coax David Tyree, and the other Steve Smith out of retirement while we're at it.

By this logic, the Broncos were crazy for singing Peyton Manning when they did.  Right?

I don't believe that you really believe that Nicks is done.

I know... but he was still unbelievably impressive during those playoff games..

And what he did was WAY more impressive than what Tyree did. Tyree just made that one great catch. and it was a lot longer ago.

I always thought very highly of Nicks until this past year..  I still think he could be great.

Lol this is the dumbest post I have ever seen. You've been in here for days as the sole operator of this anti-Nicks bandwagon for no other reason that you have some weird fetish against what college he played for

That is the most absurd comparison that I have ever read in all these years on the huddle. No.

Good to see Growl in here.

Why don't any GM's listen to your words of wisdom? Especially after your genius thread about Mike Mitchell last year. That certainly didn't backfire.

I am not buying the logic that if we wanted Nicks, we would have put him in the Beason deal..  Its not like the Giants are just gonna throw him in there for free.  So why would Gettleman give up a draft pick to get someone right in the middle of the season (when its hard to learn everything) when we can wait til we have the offseason to get him adjusted and try to get him in FA?

Not saying that is our plan.. I just dont think that people should use the Beason deal as a reason why we dont want him.
