"The improvement of our team has been reflected in the progress of the record over the last three seasons under Ron, and we look forward to building upon that foundation," said Panthers Owner/Founder Jerry Richardson.

Despite starting the season with a 1-3 record, the Panthers went on to win 11 of their final 12 regular season games – including a franchise record eight-game winning streak – to secure the No. 2 seed in the NFC and a first-round bye.

"I have been very clear about how much I have enjoyed living in Charlotte and working for this organization," said Rivera. "I very much appreciate the support and confidence Mr. Richardson and (general manager) Dave Gettleman have shown in me and our staff. Any success we have enjoyed is the result of a team effort by players, coaches, scouts and the entire organization, and our ultimate goal remains winning the Super Bowl."

I think it's great news.  I love Ron as a coach and think he has grown each year.  Players want to play for him and work their butts off.  Congratulations to him!

Too many years for a coach that was supposed to be fired four weeks into the season and then flamed out of his first playoff game. Probably not a popular opinion around here. Let's hope he can follow up.

2 years is probably the sweet spot but in reality, if every coach with 1 year left is a lame duck, then 3 is a good number.

    • You would hope so. I’m confused why the sports world seems split on Bryce when he’s obviously not working out.
    • So let’s do the reverse? Make everyone agree everything he does is a disaster? I also think the whole “gaslighting” is on the eye of the beholder. It went from he can’t avoid one single sack countered with he actually did that well Sunday (with data backing it) to a little breakdown of why he is so bad. People are going to have different opinions. I’m also not going to pretend this wasn’t happening Day one with this little QB.
    • All this great stuff he has done, how often does he do it?  I have it at three or four games out of 14 where he was very good and then you get a drive here or a series there where there are some good things. Here is the gaslight part: everyone has put him on a curve with his first year the baseline, neglecting to understand how bad he was then. Even if he comes back twice as good, where does that really leave him? 25th ranked or thereabouts.     He had so far to go, and still does, it is a Major ‘settle’ to accept his play as worthy of giving him our future.  You want to settle when the Bucs have Mayfield, and the Saints have overtaken us at QB? We will be third in the division at QB. That is good enough for y’all?
