I think you can easily replace his production via FA and the draft for cheaper.

 

Olsen would be a shocker.. But with that kind of cap number, who knows? Maybe gettleman has cheaper alternatives in mind.

It's hard to imagine, but there could be a scenario where that money could be spent better in another area.

5 million savings in 2014, I think you could get Pita or someone similar for around 4 a season and then use the extra million in the pocket. Also could draft a TE in the first round that would make roughly 2 million or so. Then use the other 3 million to keep Mitchell or Ginn or go after a WR like Nicks on a prove it deal. 

 

i wouldn't know what to think if olsen got cut.

 

on the one hand gettleman better have something in mind and quick and it would help towards our future.

 

on the other hand i would be devastated for Cam and think last year was kind of flukey. Olsen is a MAJOR part of our offense even if that offense sucked.

 

 

The only reason I used him is that it saves the team a ton of money, doesn't have huge cap hits in either year dead money wise. He isn't the greatest at being explosive and getting YAC. I think you could find a similar safety valve for Cam for a lesser cost. 

 

 

The biggest reason was savings and shock value, they both fit. Lol

 

After those cuts in my post the team would have over 27 million for FA and such.

Yeah he's making a good bit of money, but who would we replace him with? I would be literally disgusted with this organization if they did that. We need to get our QB more weapons, not get rid of the only good ones he has. Not to mention we still need a receiver to take over for Steve.

Trade $$$cam for a first round pick and draft Teddy Bridgewater and a big time wide out. We need to see improvement. First the sophomore slump and now we still are as far, if not farther, from the big game. His cap room will bind us once again next season and we will end up like the Ravens, mediocre. Joe Flacco scammed the Ravens, I don't want that happening here.

As for the 18+ million, the team option is going to be worth 17 million and he's going to want more then that on a yearly basis after having one of the best three year starts in NFL history among all players.
