We'll see how long we can keep this unlocked and in the Panthers section. The article pulls no punches, and it shouldn't.

Dude, you know what the best part is about a qb you initially doubted on a team that's finally winning? You can just manufacture some bullshit about him "proving himself worthy" in some way you thought he wasn't paying off on so that it actually looks like you were still right all along, which would suggest that you actually know what you're talking about! That's like when people rag on cam being immature in his first two years, instead of understanding the process of learning the game and the external variables like defense that have nothing to do with cam, we can say he matured just now, and use some anecdote we found that probably really meant little to back our point, thus confirming everything we initially said about newton as truth!

To me it's as if people think maturity is just a light switch that goes on at a certain age, and though it might seem as if, it's really a long process that takes time and could even possibly be irrelevant in the story of cam's ascent. It has more to do with the fact that the defense has gotten gradually better and that the two years of experience that cam had behind him in 2013 that he didn't have in 2011 helps him make plays when it counts now, which is pretty much what people like me have been saying all along about cam since before we drafted him.

On a maturity level in the traditional sense, he's probably not changed that much since 2011. And of course his perceived lack of maturity in his first two years was overstated. He's a competitor, and the way the panthers lost games then was absolutely frustrating. His increasingly masterful grasp of the pro game is what is paying off right now.

The fact that it's an accepted practice to have your character judged by pedantic hack sports writers/draftniks/combine rats who think they can project how well you will do in the NFL by analyzing your idiosyncrasies and soooo many football nuts who mark out to terms like "lunch pail guy" buy into it all is pathetic

    • Damn Logan Jones had a good day too. Was high on him coming in as he anchored that top Iowa line and is a fire plug inside. He's gonna be 25 to start the season so maybe he slips into the 4th but I doubt it, even if C isn't a premium position. His play on the field was top notch and the combine boosted it again. Arm length is about the only knock. But guy is plug and play at C.   This is a loaded class at C. Need to grab one.
    • Bryce will be permanently replaced by a draft pick. There's not another Sam Darnold out there to save us. Tepper is going to see this throw because he dumped Mayfield and Darnold too soon. He's going to give it 1 more year before he will sign off on dumping another 1st round pick qb. Thats the cold hard truth of it. It doesn't mean we can't get younger and much better at the backup position.
    • Maybe I should have used a different word and saved that for me. I want someone that has something impressive about them.  Someone that has potential to supplant a guy who is producing 25th best type of numbers. 22nd, 27th all that bottom third neighborhood.  I don’t know where that will come from it just can’t be from even a 4th round pick this year IMO. Unless FA is crazy productive.    I’ll give Bryce a better than bottom rating for his playoff game. Well above low twenties. But at least half of his games were bottom third level. Probably 2/3 to 3/4 of them were.
