Pejorative Miscreant

Offseason Free Agent Needs

 - O Line  Get Wharton back and maybe pickup an aging tackle

 - DB  Re-sign Munnerlyn and Mitchell.  I think Godfrey gets cut

 - WR Probably will not get a top tier guy but need a stop gap

 - DE Gettleman needs to ink Hardy or find a short term solution.  Ideally we could franchise and trade but I dont want to speculate.

Offseason Team Progress

 - Silatolu recovers fully and can play at the pre-injury level

 - Kugbila ditches the Schwinn and proves he can contribute

I dont think we make a heavy splash with Nicks but do think we pick up a guy at WR that is better hands than LaFell.  Put together this draft using the Fanspeak simulator.  Generally did  not reach more than a couple spots for guys.

Overall I would have liked to have improved the OL a bit more but like I said, I did not reach far at all.

1.  WR ODELL BECKHAM JR.

First round tackles are gone and the Panther’s need a WR.  The difference between this LSU WR and the one currently on the roster is that OBJ has pretty reliable hands.   Lafail does not.  And apparently he is pretty fast.

2.  OT JA’WUAN JAMES

Considered 2nd tier but he will start for the Panthers next season

3.  DE  JACKSON JEFFCOAT

Would like to address OL/WR or DB but he is clearly BPA on the board

4.  CB KEITH MCGILL

Big physical corner to help build defensive backfield

5.  WR BRUCE ELLINGTON

Another fast WR.

6.  TE CROCKETT GILMORE

Big TE that can catch and block.  Would rather shore up the line but we need a TE also.

7.  CB WALT AIKENS

Good prospect that could settle into the rotation eventually.

No thanks

Say what you want....but the guy has size and owned Clowney.   Guy is going to be a great pro....have you seen him play?  Hog molly, big, nasty, and wants to win.  Absolutely best tackle that's going to be available.  Plus he's a good run blocker.

Edit.....if his knees get cleared.

And I'm a Gamecock fan......I was scared of that guy.

I don't think Jeffcoat will go before the 5th actually.  He is in the same category as Michael Sam.  Too small to play a 43 DE and not athletic enough to play OLB in a 34.  Do not want.  247 lbs

McGill will not make it out of the third.  Had a great combine and everyone is looking for the next tall defender.

James could definitely be an answer at OT

OBJ or Cooks at 28 is fine.

This. If his knee checks out, Richardson is the only legitimate OT projected to be available at 28 that I would want. Anyone behind him is a reach imo: Moses, Mewhort, etc.

    • As long as Morgan is the GM, Young will be the QB. Young is 100% Morgan's guy. The contract extension is pretty much guaranteed unless Young suffers a career ending injury this season.
    • People really need to stop placing Dan Morgan on some kind of infallible pedestal. He is absolutely in lockstop with Tepper regarding Bryce and has been all along. As far as the team being okay with 185 passing yards per game. We better have a proven monster RB in our backfield then. Presently that guy is not on the roster. Chuba has one outlier season so far and the other guys have proven nothing. Not what you would call a great recipe. The only thing we can hope at this juncture is that the highest paid OL in the league for the second year in a row elevates their play from last season and opens up some massive holes even our RB's can get through. But it still doesn't resolve the issue of predictability. With no viable passing game it is much easier to shut down any run game. No defenses are scared of Bryce's arm. It is what it is.
    • i lived in Atlanta from 84'to 92' & back then it was indeed a very different time without the internet & access to information 24/7. shortly after i moved back home to western NC around 93' or 94' the Carolina Panthers were awarded an NfL franchise & began their inaugural season in 95' so ike you i have seen the Carolina Panthers, ,the NFL ,technology, fans all evolve over the many a moon & years now some for the better & others not so ...just saying
