Could he drop, right now you would say no, but last year everyone thought Geno Smith was a top 10 guy and he went in second round. ESPN would love for that to happen, Johnny Football dropping out of first round in prime time; coverage would make The Golden Calf of Bristol look tiny

Manziel has reached the cult level of The T.ebow and Luck. Players that are so loved by the media and the general populous that any criticism of them is caused for reprisal and ridicule. It took Michael Jordan over a decade and 5 titles to garner that respect and those guys get it while in college. So it's less to do with sport. It's more an athletic egalitarian movement and the rooting for 'our guy' than anything else.

 

People won't be satisfied until Manziel is selected #1 overall then absolutely poo the bed and send a respectable organization into the sh!tter. You know what they will say when Manziel is pooing his pants, 'yea, Andre Johnson can't get open', 'he has no time in the pocket so he's running for his life', and the best one, 'he's coming to a 2-14 team'. The book has already been written on this and we've all already read it.  I'm not sure what the reasoning for it.

 

A 5'11'' dude run 4.68 and people are raving about his athletic process. What a joke! Where I'm from kids are born running a 4.5, easy. Especially at that miniature height. We watch a 6'6 332 pound man(Greg Robinson) run a 4.91 and then turn around raving about a miniature little dude who run a 4.68. Who are they kidding! Jaws didn't fall onto some new discovery here, just a guy with some balls to be honest.

 

I can assure you, in the coming weeks someone will 'talk some sense' into Jaws and he'll 'watch some more tapes' and Manziel will climb his way back into the 1st round again. Skip Bayless is not gonna like this and he has a lot of weight at ESPN. Unfortunately Jaws will be a company man once again. But it was good to hear his true and honest opinion. Having said all this, I do believe the media will realize they can't hold on to the Manziel charade any longer and he'll start getting projected into the later rounds. There are some people in the media that just won't put their reputation at stake to get behind this Manziel going on now. QB purist like Kurner Warner and Cossell, I doubt will sell their soul and would be disappointed if they did.

He was never projected as a 1st rounder even after his final college game. Espn and the other networks manufacture his top 5 projection so they can invite him to Radio City, put the camera on him and watch him sweat drop to the 3rd or 4th round. They saw what happened to Geno so they enjoyed and Manziel is a perfect candidate for that. It's a better story thank if Manziel were selected #1. It's sadistic but I kind of like it too. lol

He's been projected as a top pick ever since he won the Heisman Trophy.

who can argue the guy is not a playmaker?  only two years of college ball played, with the right coaching he can certainly make a positive impact.  jaws is not a real scout, or we wouldnt be hearing anything from him if he were.  i dont see how the texans can afford to pass on a QB unless they think one of those top 5 will slip to the second round

      Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.

      I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
