Free Agency is less than a week away

Michael Vick to the Oakland Raiders on a 10 year $200M contract.

Somewhere, Al Davis is smiling :)

Mitchell is gonna test the waters as he really should!

He doesn't seem to want to, though.

Mitchell is a guy i could easily see the team coming to and saying "We have a deal for you.  We just need you to wait till we clear some money."  And yeah, i think he'd do it.

If McNasty's story about there being a verbal agreement with Ginn is true, the same could easily be true with Mitchell.

Get Mike Mitchell a new contract please.

We really need to get it done by this weekend.  While teams can't sign a FA until Tuesday, there's a three day window starting Saturday where teams can negotiate with FA's.  And I don't want Mitchell to even have a chance to hear someone else's pitch.  If he does, they may give him an offer he just can't refuse...and we can't match.

Hard to believe, eh?

Kinda sad that it doesn't start at midnight anymore

Not expecting any big early "splash" moves from the Panthers.  Someone will make a big crazy move right out of the gate, but not us.

Regardless, the fun is about to begin :D

I think if we get a long-term deal done with Hardy before Tuesday, then it will be very telling.  I believe the team absolutely needs a vet to start at LT, and if we want one in FA (and that is certainly preferable to sliding Bell over), we will have to move relatively quickly.  There are several teams with OT needs, and I would really not want to be stuck with the leftovers.  But to do so, we would need the cap space we would gain by striking a deal with Hardy.  So if we do come to terms, I think we will be more active than some think, if not, then I will be a little nervous about the left side of our line.

Tell ya one guy I'd like to see us try and acquire in free agency: Dolphins CB Nolan Carroll.

Carroll was a fifth round pick in 2010.  Word that the Dolphins are gonna let him test free agency because they disagree on his value.

I remember watching him against us and seeing him on highlights and in a few other games.  To me he looks one of those guys that's ready to take the next step.

Marshall Newhouse

Rodger Saffold

Aaron Ross

Damian Williams

Ted Ginn

Those are guys I realistically expect! Mitchell is gonna test the waters as he really should!

Get Marshall Newhouse's name out of your head right now lol. He is universally hated here in Wisconsin, the guy flat out sucks.

Ginn and Mitchell are guys who took poo prove it contracts and showed under it they can contribute to the team. Now, what they think they are worth and what DG thinks they are worth, who knows where that's at...

I think Mitchell and Ginn both want to stay in Carolina though and I think they will. Will be sad if those 2 don't return.

And yes...FA is less than a week away. Time flies. In the present, looking ahead, its like as if the time will take forever but in reality it flies.

Didn't say I wanted him.....it's what I expect! He has LT experience! Held his own in 2012! Something has happened with him and perfect one year prove it contract

I mentioned him before, nyoung guy, tall corner who can make some plays, not sure if we sign another young guy though with all the young corners we have, maybe a wily vet.

You can guarantee that some fans will be sharing the hate on gettleman if we do not sign anyone withing 7 minutes of FA officially opening.

Safeties don't get paid like they use to so I don't think Mitchell's contract will be that bad. I don't think Ginn's will be that bad either.

No telling with Captains contract bc the corner position and market is a toss up. I won't lose sleep if he leaves.

This.  Finding a legit solution at LT hinges on getting a long-term deal with Hardy hammered out before FA starts.  If we haven't gotten this done, then we're probably fuged at LT next season and if we're fuged at LT we might just be completely fuged.

I love me some Mike Mitchell I just hope he can continue to be a force. Chris Harris and Marlon McCree looked pretty good too for a short while. But I have more faith that Mitchell is a better player than both of them. Much faster, more athletic.

    • It’s wild to me that so many of you guys are threatened by the idea of an opposing team fan who is polite in 2025. He’s been posting here on and off for years, usually when our teams play each other which hasn’t been for a while. I’d maybe understand this treatment if it was a falcons or saints fan, but packers fans in general are one of the nicer fan bases as long as you aren’t another NFC north team (especially the bears).
    • Some players excel on the big stage, while others freeze and succumb to the pressure. I’m not convinced Cam took a dive. I think he didn’t handle the stage very well. The pressure got to him and he folded. He wouldn’t be the first quarterback or player to struggle in a Super Bowl. Two HOF examples - John Elway and Jim Kelly. The 2002 MVP, Rich Gannon, threw 5 interceptions against the Bucs. Poor performances happen.  Unless of course you believe all these players threw the games they played in, but if that occurred, surely someone by now would have admitted taking a dive? 🤷‍♂️
    • It was always a matter of time with Cam’s playing style and a shorter shelf life than passers that protect themselves. I suppose Cam could have still been playing in 2028 ten years after the hit took place, but he would need to have evolved as a quarterback and become more of a passer than the dual threat maestro he was. It’s sad because it makes us think of what could have been, but I do feel it was always a matter of time until all the hits took their toll.
