Question for Steve haters

Baltimore Sun was saying either Ravens or Bucs for Smitty.

However, it ain't over till its over.  I think they see the free agency market at WR and are trying to squeeze a sixth rounder for him--

If Smitty ain't here next year. I hope it is the Ravens over the suks. I don't want to have to face him twice a year.

Until something happens, I am just going to hope for the best.

NFL Network just speculated Seattle.  I think the Panthers want to trade him so they can control his destiny, among other reasons.

That may be the dumbest thing I have read all day. I'd say closer to 75% news and 25% speculation, opinion and conjecture.

You must live in a purple haze.

If you think espn is 75% news, them you definitely are riding the short bus to school.

I used to work for espn and they have multiple channels to fill for 24 hrs a day...opinion and speculation is their bread and butter. They try and create as many stories as they actually report on.

Not sure what street you live on, but, Steve is still a Panther. At least for the moment.

NFL network, Faulk and Mooch, are baffled at how this is all playing out. They claim that Steve is the heart and soul of this Offense. Why would you let that guy go without having a viable option in place.

This is a mess. And it is being played out in a very public way. I guess we all have to wait and see how this plays out. If we don't get a trade done, do we keep him or let him walk? Fug, I hate this.

They must have watched old games....

Newton is our offense.....not 89. 89 is the heart and soul of a team that no longer exists. New era.

Trading Smitty does give us control of where he goes. But, there is a chance we don't get a trade done. I am sure most teams would know that if we don't trade him, we may just have to let him go. Unless...we keep him.

It may be becoming Cam's team. But at this point in time. Smitty is still the emotional leader of this team. That will change in time, but it is still true as of now.

Cam, Keek, Star are not yet ready to be "That guy". CJ, TD, and maybe Kalil are in a position to take over. Cam may be a leaser, but he is not fiery enough to do what Smitty can do. Get in your face and tell you how it is. That is what an emotional leader does. That is Smitty.

You have to have a resume to be able to do what Smitty does. Being able to lead by example is not enough. Players will not listen to you if you haven't done anything yet. Cam and Keek are getting there. They just haven't arrived as of yet.

Cam was the offense the moment he stepped on the field in 2011.

89 is the emotional leader of the fanbase at this stage. 89 brings a mix of things to the table.....some good and some bad. The bad is now the issue. He is not the game changer he once was to make all his negatives irrelevant.

89 is the best player in Panther history. Everything else IMO he brings gets spun and exaggerated IMO. He is a moody guy who likes attention. His leadership IMO is also very spotty....least from what a fan can observe.

Would you pay 7 million to a wide reciever who is undersized, cant get separation, has a big ego, old, can be a distraction.  Keep in mind 7 million is the range the Saints are trying to franchise Graham for.  If so, there is no reason to argue further with imbeciles like you because you would argue that 3 is a bigger number than 7 because it has heart.

people are just throwing yet another panther under the bus to make excuses for Gettleman, smith was one of the 2 only receiving threats we had last year.people saying he's getting old well the production proves otherwise........this guy seems like he doesn't know how to talk to players

Honestly, I feel like releasing Smitty is a G-man power play. It's not about the money and it's not about wins. That argument could be made if we had young guys waiting in the wings that Smitty was holding back. We literally have nothing. I feel like this is nothing more than G-man letting it be known this is his team and anyone could be on the chopping block and D-Will, Stewy, and CJ type contracts are a thing of the past. This could impact the Hardy negotiations.

Gettleman seems to have more fans than our players. If we do have a terrible season next year I'm sure most of them will blame Hurney or Ron or maybe even Cam.

For those of you advocating a rebuilding year: Just consider the fact that we are wasting prime years of our franchise QB's tenure with the Panthers.

If we can't aquire a decent line and decent receivers for the offense, I predict we will lose Cam.
