Saints sign Jairus Byrd

You do realize that they signed Byrd knowing that they are mortgaging their future because Brees only has a couple of seasons left in him right? The Panthers aren't in the same situation as the Saints. IF they are going to win, they HAVE to win now.

so i guess every other team is mortgaging their future as well? Byrd is a stud FS, that just got paid by a team that had less money then the panthers. the panthers have been screaming we are cap strapped and rebuilding since 2010. that bs line is beyond old. again, you can manipulate the cap to how you want it. the panthers just choose not to.

Every other team? The Saints had little-to-no money to spend and then went out and bought a 54 million dollar safety to further complicate their issues. What other team did that?

We HAVE been manipulating the cap man. How else do you think we are under it? Hurney really screwed this team by handing out so many big contracts in a short period of time. We would never get out of this situation if we didn't learn from our mistakes. Chill out. Free agency has just started, moves still have to be made, and the draft is yet to be had.

Everyone on this board seems to be having a meltdown like a 5-year old in Toys-R-Us that was told he can't get anything right after they see another kid's mommy buying that kid a new toy.

Remember when the Eagles brought in some big names.........and were considered the "dream team"?

Or when the Bucs brought in Vjax, Revis, Goldson, etc......and were declared a team that was going to compete for the division title?

wtf are some of you getting all pussified about the moves other teams are making? Signing big names in FA doesn't always equal a great season.

Mostly Lovie Smiths defense against our stagnant ass offense twice a year.

an issue that can be manipulated again in the future, and if they do decide to bring in another guy, they will. the panthers do it to get under the cap, while teams like the saints do it to get top notch talent. hell even the Steelers who never go out and sign FAs did  so this year so far. i do know that it is the first day, and most of the signings dont bother me, but the saints obtaining Byrd makes them that much better.

panthers have been cap strapped and in rebuilding mode since 2010.

    • Bryce has been playing the best ball of his career the last three games IMO. He wasn't the reason we dropped the game in NOLA. Seattle's defense will be his toughest challenge yet this season
    • I'll be at the game Sunday and up until last year I had a perfect attendance record. Now however I have seen us lose to the Chiefs (last year) and the Bills (this year). So we can no longer rely solely on my ability to pound overpriced beers to propel us to a win.
    • I haven't been able to watch Seattle on a dedicated basis but the Seahawks are a much better team by the all accounts: eye test, record and DVOA. Defensively they are sick. Best DVOA in the league first in rushing and second in passing. Offensively their passing game has been on fire this year led by JSN I can easily see this being like the Buffalo game where things just get out of hand for us early, that being said this league really is week to week and Seattle does have the disadvantage of traveling cross country for an early game.  If and big if, the Panthers are able to effectively run the ball and limit the amount of time Seattle's offense has to generate explosive plays we have a path to winning this game.  Seattle fans won't be happy to hear this but bad Darnold is always lurking in the background. He is truly an enigma to root for bc he will have an incredible throw that only a few people can make but then will turn around and throw the most bone headed pick of all time.  I think ultimately we drop this one as ultimately it's human nature to be looking forward to that week 18 game. But man how special would it be to be leaving the stadium on Sunday with a win and a miracle dolphins upset
