When Has This Much Turnover Ever Resulted In a Successful Season?

You can bring up the Pats, but their core usually remains solid and their system is pretty easy to plug guys into. They are an aberration. They also collect draft picks like baseball cards.

We have lost 3 OL (2 starters so far) and Wharton considering it. We lost Mitchell. We are likely to let Ginn walk. And to put the icing on the cake, we are publicly humiliating and then releasing the guy who has been the face of the franchise for the last 13 years and is a guy who is a potential hall of famer. As far as Smitty goes, love him or hate him, but his tenacity defined us in our greatest runs and it sustained us to endure throughout our worst. Regardless of Gettleman's reasoning for the Smitty decision, tell me how this will equate to a carryover from last season?

Yes, you have to have some turnover to have sustained success in the NFL, but too much turnover and you end up like the Browns and Raiders. Not to mention, two of the biggest influences in the locker room over the last 12 years or so are now gone. All the other guys that are leaving that many huddlers are shrugging off made up the personality of this team last season as well.

And yes, we still have the draft and free agency to go through, but the point is, I don't recall many, if any, teams that suffered this much turnover AND got rid of their most popular player from the previous 10 seasons (I'm saying until Cam got here), and went on to sustain success - REGARDLESS of hiw we replace them. Bring in new vets and draft some rookies, the turnover is still evident and there is no sure-fire formula to ensure similar chemistry. That is a concern for eevery team going into every season, but much more so for teams who have gutted significant areas of their roster.

I'm not saying this is a imminent destiny for our team, but it's definitely something to think about going forward.

Put the bottle down, we still have our stud front 7 in tact, and on offense, we have one of the best young QB's in the league.  We're still in better shape than Dallas, or even the Saints really who have a ton of cap issues and only made it worse by signing Jairus Byrd.  So, let it play out.  I'm bummed about losing Smitty, and still think Greg Hardy wasn't truly worth the franchise, but this is what we have and I think we can be as good next year as this.

Never. But we do still have Cam, Luke, Star, KK, Hardy, TD, Olsen, Kalil, etc. And even young guys who stepped up last year. Probably not 4-12, but maybe 8-8 or so. Depends how well we draft and fill our holes.

In Gettle we trust!

Relax guys it's only March 12th

Gettle got this.

Stop overreacting like a bunch of women, I'm glad you aren't making the decisions.

Why do you trust Gettleman so much? How do you know he's "got it"?

Why do people insist on treating people that question Gman (which is what a logical person would do) like over emotional football idiots?

I think some of you Gettophiles put a lot of unearned trust in Dave.

How about the Panthers last year.

Our D line is in tact which was is the strength of this team.

Our offense and OLine was not good last year, so changes in this regard are welcomed. And silatolou and kug are back.

If we sign Nicks, the Smitty loss is negated. Nicks at 75% is better then Smitty at this point and many of us can't admit this.

I'm clearly making a mockery of people who are blindly following him.

    • Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.
    • Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players
    • This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
