What we have lost so far

Gross -  maybe had one good year left but that is doubful given his age

Smitty - 35 year old guy in the last year or two of his career - lst year undr 60 catches and 800 yards- noting special in the number 1 or even number 2 WR category - last game he hurt and may be not coming back from that injury in any significant way

Rest of the o lineman - bunch of back up type players most in them also old old old  - no big loss

Ginn - return specialist - had a few good catches last season - not anything special

Hixon - one catch of note all year that looked like a play run with him as a substitute  Armanti Edwards - no loss

so what are you fools crying about with 6 months left to go before the season starts?

Outside of Gross (nothing we could do) and Smitty (no one really knows why it happened) everyone we have lost is very replaceable. And matching the offers they got from other teams would be the most Hurney thing we could do. Doing that kind of stuff is why we have no money right now. Just be patient. It's March 13.

26th ranked offense**

Serviceable S and CB that played behind the best front 7 in football**

All replaceable.

With what, exactly? 5 million and 7 draft picks? Optimistically that's maybe 9-10 players, and not all are starters.

Meanwhile, while we cut half our starters everyone else is upgrading.

Ginn, Mitchell, Captain were all making pennies. Same with Mikell. No one else wanted them and we paid pennies.

You don't have to drop big contracts or get big money guys to win. We are a prime example.

Remember the Summer where we drop huge deals left and right to keep the gang together. Like everyone wanted. It screwed us. It's why can't spend much money now.

So, if it's so easy give me all the players we can sign with our current situation to adequately fix our holes and return to the playoffs.

I'm not an NFL GM so I can't answer that question. If you asked my that question at this time last year there is no way I'm throwing out Mitchell, Mikell, Ginn, Hixon.

Smith and Gross probably won't be replaced until the draft.

Munnerlyn, Mitchell, Ginn, Lafell, Hixon are all rather easily replaceable and I expect them to be replaced at some point in FA.

In other words: I ain't worried.

And by the way, of the second list of players only two weren't complained about over and over.

Ginn - because we were so use to him being a bust

And Mitchell because we were pleasantly surprised.

And lastly of the list of players we let walk most people here would have complained if we offered them the contract they eventually signed.

Pay Mitchell 5yrs 25 mil? No thanks

Pay Captain 3yrs 15 mil? No thanks

    • A team should always be putting at least one or two draft picks in at tackle and guard each season. Those guys just don't last nearly long enough and those that do get very, very expensive. In our situation, we need a little more time to see what the Icky injury works itself out to. Njiman performed really well out there and if this injury lingers into the next season, then he might do well enough there to hold the line for the team. Or we could draft early if there is a stud LOT in the draft when our spot comes along.  Honestly, we may be looking at replacing both LT and RT this season at this point. Moton is getting long in the tooth and while he deserves a shot to go for a playoff run with this team, I don't know whether we will really see him come back next season yet. It's still so darned early in all of this to say.
    • Because we had a ton of things go our way this year and made the playoffs with a -70 point differential.  This year was the outlier.  Regression to the mean is unavoidable.  So the team will have to significantly improve to beat 8 wins next year.
    • One thing I noticed in this game (and I say this as the biggest of Bryce Young haters) is that Bryce did do a solid job of throwing into voids in this game, and leading receivers on crossers.  There were a few times where I was thinking "where the hell is he throwing it" only for a receiver to appear out of nowhere and catch it in stride.  Mike McDaniel might be a guy that can squeeze a little bit of production out of the otherwise ghastly Bryce Young. His offenses heavily feature that style of passing game.  I've heard Idzik is drawing interest from other teams.  If so, bringing McDaniel in at OC would be a stellar move.  I know it'll never happen, but fun to think about.
