This is not on Gett.

This is entirely on Gettleman. It was on him from the moment he took the job. He's had options. He could have signed Hardy to an extension last season when most smart fans were thinking it was a logical step to lock him up before he thought he deserved CJ money.

This bullshit about "don't blame our current GM of 2 years, blame the previous guy!" is so remarkably ignorant of the power that Gettleman wields. The options for him to get out of this cap situation were limitless. Trades, smart signings, giving players more than one year deals.

And let us not forget that the team that is currently being dismantled is mostly the team that he inherited. There were precious few big time contributors here last season that didn't have ties to Hurney's stint here.

It's so incredibly easy to blame a guy you dislike for all the current day problems of the team, and it's also incredibly naive. These men work with the salary cap as a vocation. This is their bible. An inability to make the cap work in your favor is a direct indictment on your ability as a GM to handle your responsibilities. The inability to have the foresight to sign Hardy to a reasonable deal LAST season is why were are here. The inability to lock him up RIGHT NOW is another indictment.

Get your heads out of the sand. Gettleman hasn't been robbed of creative control here. What he lacks represents his own personal failings, but he WILL ride the "it's Hurney's fault" train for all it's worth as any executive would. He knows that the writing is on the wall for a letdown season next year after all these self-inflicted wounds.

Meanwhile, Greg Hardy sits idly by with a $13.1 million cap hit and our best WR was cut for a nominal cap savings and we have no means by which to replace him in the interim.

But yes, continue to drink the koolaid you're being served here. There are a few bad contracts here, but what team doesn't have a few bad contracts to overcome?

We could still deal Hardy no?

No we can't. If DG'S doesn't get a long term deal with Hardy after allowing player after the player hit the market. Then this is a major failure. His off-season right now is pending on Hardy and if he can build around not letting him walk.

We're in this situation because of Hurney however Gettleman is the one making the decisions.  The roster is greatly affected by Hurney's doings, but at the end of the day these are DG's moves to get us out of it.  It's not like he has only 1 path to take with the roster because of Hurney.

I'm fine with this offseason outside of a PR disaster and awkward Smith situation along with Roman Harper.  The other non-moves make sense.  I never was one who thought Ginn or Mitchell were staying put.

"blame Getts", reminds of the whole "blame Obama" nonsense thing. . . how incredibly negligent of logic, responsibility, and accountability. The dudes in charge, he's got options, he chose poorly. No one jumps into perfect situations, for starters people rarely get fired in those scenarios. This guy treated the greatest player to put on a Panthers uniform like trash and now its going to reflect on us as an organization given that the whole league watched us do it. There were many different ways that couldve gone and wouldve netted us the same results without embarrassing our organization. No stud free agent is going to sign with us now. We'll get plenty of McNutts though so no worries. . . superbowl.

Crediting a guy for doing nothing makes no sense to me. Cutting Smith maybe needed to be happen, but going about it that way was disgusting. Most people are too proud to admit when theyre wrong. They dont want to be told how theyre wrong or know anything more than "hey man, youre totally right". They wanna tell me how the huddle is over reacting and they'll make references to chicken little. I expect to find more of that here. . and so Im out. I have no need to talk to those people that are just going rationalize this as just another roster move. It was done poorly without tact.

Who are you trying to convince, the people that are worrying or yourself? . . Yeah, keep it to yourself and handle your own fears before you call out someone for being rightfully VERY FUGGIN concerned.

Agreed.

His attitude and potential for distraction finally caught up with his waning talent.  As soon as "the grief" and "the great" became a push, he effectively punched his own ticket.

That wasn't it either.personal , all personal.

You want to know what else isn't on Gett? Drafting Luke, Cam, TD, Kalil, Greg, Charles.

But Marty never did anything right and all the problems we have are on him right?

It's year two, how much longer you wanna keep pointing at Marty?

and you know this how?

It may be.  Who knows and who cares.  If you make yourself a polarizing figure then there is a chance some people may not like you.  If that guy happens to be your boss and you start losing some of the lustre that once deflected the ire of your superiors, well, call it personal all you want but in the end its the waning production that did him in.

Its not like he just started acting arrogant and drawing all sorts of attention to himself every game.

Think about it.

Easy killer

its not year two.  FA just started for year two.  One can hardly judge year two at this point and year one went pretty damn good.

Also, nobody said Hurney never did anything right.  You should try reading a little slower maybe.

You know.  Let it sink in a little before you go and post something as stupid as this in the future.

Just a tip.

Is it year two or not? So it is? Alright then.

So easy killer, just because you have pretty much zero form of defense for G-men so far, doesn't mean I've given up on him. Some of us would like the Marty excuse go away, instead of citing it for our black hole of a WR position
