NFL Playoffs expanding to 14 in '15... MNF game likely

I like it.

How bad would it have sucked to be a fan in Arizona and seeing your team miss the playoffs last year at 10-6 or New England a couple years ago at 11-5. You can't do away with the automatic bid for the division winning teams, as division games wouldn't hold as much weight.

It also makes the race for that one seed a little more entertaining.

As Panther fans, we should love this.  Ron Rivera has been horrific after a bye.  Had this new format been in place this past year, we would have hosted the Cardinals a week after beating the Falcons.  Playoff run could have had a different result.

I like it too. I've been thinking for years we needed 14  teams in the playoffs. And with the NFL trying to expand with more teams, not seeing a problem other than an 8-8 team should not make it in while a 10-6 teams sits at home and watches.

I agree, but that problem can be solved if, as some said above, we took the eight division winners, best four records outside of that, and treated the league as one conference.  Total realignment, where you still play 6 division games and every team from two other divisions.  However changed the last two games.  Match your division up with yet another and everybody from your division plays two teams from the other.  The next year you switch, so schedules between division opponents are a little more balanced.

Your race for the one seed comment is the only positive.  That along with upping the importance of winning the division is the main thing I liked about MLB going to a WC game.

Maybe I'm the only one who doesn't mind preseason. Those guys are fighting for their jobs, it may not mean much to us but to them it's everything. Let the starters sit, let the bench players play and if you don't like it........

That's too bad.  I think the NFL's playoff system, as it currently is, is the best in all professional sports.  Perhaps not perfect in terms of seeding and the division structure, but 12 teams is a great balance.

agree, adding more teams loses the allure of making the playoffs
