Cam's surgery was successful

The news that Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is having ankle surgery Wednesday that is expected to sideline him for approximately four months generated a wave of anxiety about the potential consequences. There has been concern expressed about how Newton's absence from spring activities will affect his ability to develop rapport with his new receivers. The question has also been raised, perhaps more importantly, about how this procedure will impact his signature style of play, and whether his mobility will be compromised.

In truth, one could make the case that not only will neither of these things suffer from Newton undergoing surgery at this juncture, but both may actually benefit.

Just to be clear, no one in medicine would suggest that surgery is preferred if rest and rehabilitation resolve the problem. However, when the problem persists and surgery offers a means of improvement, it becomes the best option.

Wow, where has writing this good and knowledgeable been all my life.  Sure beats Joe Person writing about a tweet from Bill Voth.

In case you haven't noticed all young QBs tend to overthrow their targets (ex. Luck, Wilson, Brees, Peyton, etc) and typically QBs with cannons will always let 3-4 sail (Favre, Cutler, Stafford, Warner, etc) from time to time.

yes I noticed. It was a round about way of asking which ankle was worked on. I haven't paid attention because I was not worried about him. I hope its his lead foot so he can transfer his weight forward without fear of hurting it and really keep the ball from sometimes sailing. It will definitely make him more accurate.

Granted, Cam still tends to throw off his back foot but one of the downsides to having a cannon is that very arm strength is a double-edged sword. So even if Cam manages to perfect his mechanics, we'll see him overthrow a receiver occasionally.

I don't mind the overthrow. It's the happy feet some QB's get ( not necessarily Cam) and then they tend to strong arm balls. I am very happy with Cam is where I'm going. Just know that when your ankle is aggravated you tend to plant it gingerly. If its been hurting for two years then I'm glad he got it tightened up.
