For those hating on Gettleman

You must forget the days when we:

Drafted Jimmy Clausen

traded a 2nd for amanti edwards

Traded away our first round picks in two consecutive years

Made a DE(granted a good one) the highest paid player in the league

Overpay 2 RB's

Overpaid Jake Dehlomme

Yes loyalty is great, but overpaying players and trading away draft picks are the two easiest ways to cripple the franchise. Hurney wasnt a good GM, Gettleman is.

It just depends on how much that would cost us.

True, but we can keep cap lower if we depart with several picks to move up for a guy we think can be a big time player.

This might be a good time to trade our 1st this season and 1st next season along with some lower picks to move up for a big time WR or OT while saving money on salaries to get Cam and Luke extensions done.

I think I read that signing all of the draft picks will cost @6 million against the cap.

My thinking was get a high quality player and save money against the cap.

Normally all things being equal I am against moving up except for a QB.  But given our cap situation and the fact it is supposed to be just as bad or worse next season we should maybe try to get less quantity with our draft picks and more quality.

Just a thought

Blah blah blah.  Every team makes bad picks.  Get over it.  Gettleman did well last season.  But his track record is not long enough to get a pass from criticism.  So all the Gettleman defenders please STFU about our criticism.  We have as much right to criticize him as you do to suck his balls.

    • At least Rivera got the Super Bowl, and then lost is because he refused to adjust.  Rod’s likely will never get to the Stanley Cup unless the team he coaches is stacked and can overcome Rods weird decisions making.
    • Reddit has one of the most toxically positive fan base. You cannot criticize the team at all. If you do downvoted.
    • We've literally seen him hop around the pocket to survey the field in multiple occurrences. Defenses have this on tape. Cam and QB's like him built the way he was height and strength wise could get by on those natural gifts in their prime. Bryce Young is unequivocally going to have to go above and beyond with his footwork in order to carve out not just a long career but an elite career worthy of a top overall draft selection. We should be able to wholeheartedly agree with one another on that. Intermediate sideline throws without placing the ball out of bounds where the receiver has to contort themselves or make an absurd acrobatic catch for it to be a completion. And yes developing a better chemistry in the deep passing game with his receivers to avoid miscues. Both areas will need to see improvement if the young offense is to develop the way we hope in 2025. And we don't necessarily need to be winning mind you. But development of the supporting cast requires this from Bryce. We have invested a ton of capital in the offensive line. We've invested heavily in WR. We've invested in our backfield. We've invested in TE. We've got a young up and coming offensive minded head coach. The expectation should be for our redzone efficiency to improve significantly. That is not just on Bryce Young. But at the end of the day it will always begin and end with him more often than not. It's always been that way and that's just the nature of the position in this league. And not for nothing but before we drafted Bryce Young nobody was going around here saying we need elite play across the board and top shelf coaching for him to be effective. His biggest selling point was his ability to succeed off script and make something out of nothing. We're certainly going to have to see that come to fruition. Now we wait.
