It sounds like he is telling fans we will not be bringing in a big time option at WR. Says if we are going to run the ball our receivers as a group only 10 catches a game citing last years numbers.

I hope he does not truly believe that last years WR results are OK. He also left open the possibility of drafting  multiple WRs

in before smokescreen.

but I said this in another thread, they want a clock killing offense, not a 40 point a game offense.

To me, the truth is our offense was anemic and was just bad at times. More of the same will not win us more games no matter how good our defense is. Cam running for life is not a running game

Then why do you need Cam? If you want to run the ball (which they couldn't do last year). And just want your qb to manage the game, then go get Mark Sanchez. Cam is a weapon, throwing and running. He's capable of running a high octane offense, why neutralize him. You're putting a lion in the zoo.

You can have an explosive offense with a good defense. Good defense doesn't have to equal=boring offense. I'm convinced nobody on that staff knows poo about a real offense. Rivera we know is a defensive guy and that's where he spends his time. Shula, well his failures are well documented.

The biggest mistake this team can make is have a 100 million dollar qb, pay him 100 million, and make him a game manager.

You could read the tea leaves when the offseason started... Gettleman and Rivera think they can buck the trend and ride one of the worst offenses in the NFL (due to philosophy, mostly) to another successful year. WRONG. You are not going to win the NFL without a semblance of a #1 WR. And you are definitely not going to win as a run team with little ability to threaten the opponent in the pass game.

Smh... I just dont understand what it is with our franchise... everytime we get a revolutionary, game changing player, we stubbornly refuse to build around that strength and take advantage of their abilities, and in turn, waste their potential and talent when we could be winning championships with it instead...

Idiots.

If we don't get Cam the weaponz, he'll take his talents to Souff Beach!!!

You would think after watching us go 6-10 with 'the most retarded show on turf' offense that scored a lot, and then watching the Seahawks demolish a high scoring team in the Super Bowl that you guys would warm up to a run first offense.

Do you really think Rivera doesn't notice the problems on offense? If we draft well in OL and WR and the O looks just like last years, then I'll bitch.

The Seahawks have a legitimate run game, we don't. Their offense also capitalizes when their defense puts them in position to make plays.

Saying we may not need a #1 WR infers that WR isn't a priority.

And the Hawks weren't exactly a run-first offense. They ran a lot, but look at their WR corps and stack it against ours from last year or even what we have to this point this offseason... heck, even add in the rookie WR of your choice. The Hawks have tons of talent at WR. They get it. They gave their talented young QB weapons. You do that so when you DO pass, you have big-play potential, which gives your offense balance.

But, nah... you're right. Gettleman and Shula's idea of going all Red Grange on motherfugers is the way of the future. I dont know about you, but I absolutely love not being able to put up points with an ineffective run-heavy offense that lacks the ability for big-plays and sitting through nail-biters each week. Yay! Fun!

    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
