Things over the past year that Smitty has done that don't correspond to the Gettleman style

Recommended Posts

Look, I know this is beating a dead horse territory, but I was doing some Youtube searches to find some good Smitty highlights to give me some motivation while taking a procrastination break, and I ran in to a lot of videos within the past year of Smitty doing some stuff that I don't think corresponds with Dave Gettleman's philosophies. It really put some perspective and evidence supporting that he was cut more for locker room reasons.

It just seems to me like Smitty got more attention for his "fired up" style lately than he has since he got the publicity for fighting his teammates, which I firmly believe he's grown above.

This point is brought up, but when you see video after video on Youtube of one player, it puts things into perspective.

1. Says he wouldn't want Sanchez throwing a paper bag sandwich. True? Yes. Good for camera? No.

To me it comes down to age and saving money for the future. All the rest is the soap opera drama that is the NFL.

It was a decision that had to me made sooner or later and they made it when it suited them best.

Cowboys cut Ware, Vikes cut Allen, Chi cut Pep, Eagles cut Jackson, NO cut Sproles, we cut Smitty. All still decent players.

The Ravens didn't sign him for 27 odd mill over 3 years like we would be paying him either.

I think it's more of a balancing beam thing.

Will his future production and leadership balance out the future outbursts and salary?

I probably wouldn't have done it, but I'm way more tied to smitty than Gettleman is.

I just came upon some real proof of what he was probably looking at

And the "fan base" continues to shyt on the greatest Panther to ever hit the field.

this is not shitting on the greatest player to wear a panthers uniform.

the OP is showing what would have rustled Gettlemans feathers. There is a major difference.

fwiw. i loved every fuging second of this past season and smitty's antics. his last season as a panther is something i will remember for the rest of my life. think about all the great moments he had this past year. his last year as a panther.

I think Gettleman wants Cam in control of his recievers. To be the top dog so to speak. to be the general. There was no reigning in smitty. everyone knows that.

    • Wanting that type of play and being okay with paying $55 million a season for it are two entirely different things. If Bryce were to become the same player Purdy has been, then he would surpass my expectations of him and I'd be okay with him as our QB of the future (and again, I've long been one of the bigger anti Bryce people here who doesn't think he is capable of being our long term solution). But in no world would I be okay with paying him THAT kind of money, paying an average starter elite money is just a terrible decision.
    • I don't think they can overcome that mistake. Hell Lance was a hiccup compared to this. He isn't going to be able to carry that price tag and now he is going to have to do just that. Lol. The NFL is so dumb sometimes.
    • So, one could say that T-Mac is quicker than someone of his size should be and while he might not be quite as fast as Evans in the 40, he's more athletic than Evans. If only someone, anyone, could have seen that in his tape and mentioned that on here, hmmmmmmm In all seriousness, hearing he tested in the 89th percentile in that drill at his size is crazy impressive.  Just tried to look up the times of the top WRs in the league right now, most don't show at time for that, but I did see Chase ran his in 7 seconds flat. I honestly don't know how true this is, but I do remember seeing one breakdown of his tape and the person said he has quiet and efficient feet.  That he's really good at using the minimal steps possible to make his cuts and because of that, it actually makes him look slower to the human eye because you don't see all the quick chop steps that the guys like Tyreek would use in their running. I'm still in a state of disbelief that he's a Panther and it might not fully hit me until week 1 and I see him out there making plays for us, still feels like Goodell is going to just be like, "YOU GOT PUNKED!!!  hahaha, he's a Cowboy now, suck it"
