McNabb weighs in on our lack of a threat at WR (via D. Newton)

I've always been a fan of McNabb. He was speaking nothing but the truth in this article.

Amazing how people are bashing a guy who's speaking for the interests of their team. I think carolina might have one of the stupidest fans in the league. They just attack every opinion for the sake of attacking.

People, he's not bashing your team. He's helping you out by bringing attention to a weakness on your team. That's a good thing, people.

Pretty sure G-mans strategy has been swayed 0.000% but McNabbb's comments. He's not helping or hurting us, just talking like a good talking head should do.

Now, letting your mediocre wr core leave, using that cap space to keep your 2 stud DE's (the real strength of the team), and doing all of this before arguably the deepest wr class ever.

We'll played G-man, we'll played.

So many GM fans in this forum. Freaking weird. Thought this was sport. Any referee fans here too? Lol. Like gettleman is some freaking god who knows everything. Excuses for GMs, wtf! I thought their job was to provide solutions, not promises. So far he hasn't done poo but just wait for the draft. A GMs' reputation is made in free agency. Not the draft because every team has them too. Nothing hard about selecting 7 college kids against their will to come play for you. But it takes a lot of balls to convince an already millionaire FA to come play for.

letting the "mediocre" receiving core go to pick up two LESS than mediocre wrs I would say isn't very smart.

What you just mentioned is probably the easiest part of being a GM, do nothing and wait for the draft. A GMs' job is to go and convince grown men and their agent to come play for them. Anybody can just wait for the draft. Elway could have just waited for the draft too and hope poo stick on the wall during the draft. Jets fans are grilling Idzik for doing the same poo as well and this fan base is so content. The Saints had less money than us and still made some moves. You guys believe in a guy who is not even proven. The 'every problem will be solved in the draft' GM. Picking 28 at best will get you a starter and a project. The rest will be outta the league in 2 years. Why can't people understand that. This is the story of the nfl. The 9ers has been trying to get a wr the last 3 years with their late pick to complement Crabtree but none can pan out. This dumb fan base think they gonna get themselves a starting LT and 2 starting WRs in one draft while picking 28 is laughable.

Don't worry people, Gettleman is a genius. He has a secret weapon hidden in his fat. He'll pull it out on draft day. He's gonna find us a starting LT and 3 starting WRs, all while picking 28 in every round. What a delusional fan base. Probably the same fans who were looking forward to free agency to fix some holes are now looking forward to the draft. Like the result is gonna be different. After the draft those same fans will be looking to roster cuts to fix the same holes. Lol

People, enough of this deep talented WR class nonsense. None of the WRs projected in the 2nd round or later would be projected in the 1st round in any other draft year. Picking 28 means we're getting an even lower quality player who might not even make the team. By the time we pick 28 in the 2nd round at least 7 or 8 WRs would have been selected. You think the 9th ranked WR has even 30% chance to pan out? No. The 9th rank WR in the draft cannot carry the load of a playoffs team.

Shut up. This draft class is full of players who could develop into number 1. Allen Robinson was one of the best WR in the big ten and is rated as a 2nd to 3rd round pick in this draft.

Every draft analyst has stamped this draft the deepest WR class in decades. All have said that day 1 starters will be available in the 4th round.

I'll take their opinion over a lame MB loser any day.

Keenan Allen had a better rookie season than Calvin Johnson, AJ Green, Dez Bryant and Julio Jones.

Umm yea I think id take him top 5 in a draft redo.

keenan allen is not going to be better than any of those players in the long term.

he is a terrific player but hes not that kind of receiver. your post is the definition of hyperbole

Keep lying to yourself that your team is gonna find a starting LT and a #1 and #2 WR picking 28th in the draft. Just be realistic dude. You're not the only one who wish that but the chance is very slim. Keep listening to analyst blowing smoke off their asses. If those WRs were that deep they'd all be projected in the 1st round. If Green and Jones were in this draft class they would get 1st round grade. This would be a deep draft if we needed just one WR. Those analyst don't mean every teams can get their 1s and 2s. that's not what a deep draft mean. It means if you need one good WR you can find it.

I rather listen to the people who get paid for their opinion instead of internet morons.

I wouldn't be counting Allen out like that. He has a lot of talent and the mental aspects of the position is his strong point.

    • The bottom line is we saw long stretches this season where T-Mac wasn't even targeted.  He had games where he went an entire half without seeing a pass thrown his way, and it lead to a bunch of games with 5 or less targets.  If he's healthy and we're not up a stupid amount and only running the ball, I can't see him having more than a game or two next year with 5 or less targets. We were also only 22nd this year in pass attempts, and that was with a rookie #1 and no legitimate 2nd option for half the season.  And even then, we were only 46 pass attempts above 31st place. If we go into next season with T-Mac improved in his 2nd season and a healthy Coker for 17 games, there is absolutely no reason for us to not throw it more.  That right away increases both of their target totals without sacrificing any targets from each other or other players, add in them taking targets from the TEs and RBs on top of that, and your argument just doesn't hold water anymore. You can't look at targets/yards in a vacuum and think next year Coker just takes some from T-Mac.  You have to look at the team as a whole and our situations this year and then project what will happen next year. If he's healthy for 17 games, I'd bet my life savings that T-Mac sees increases across the board, targets/catches/yards/TDs.   Just as Coker will also see career highs in all categories, it's not one vs the other, it's shifting offensive strategy given our personnel, which next year will be much better for our passing game (QB issues aside).
    • C'mon now.... First, you can't switch up your argument once someone points out a major flaw in your point. You're saying we shouldn't expect a big increase in targets/yards for T-Mac, but then shift to talking about averages with Chase when I point out the significant leap he took there once you factor in his missing games.  He saw an increase in targets in 5 less games, averages aside, he saw a significant increase in targets in his 2nd season, what he then did with those targets is actually irrelevant in this discussion. Puka seeing no increase is pointless, as he saw such an absurd amount of targets for a rookie, it's near impossible to see an increase. But the real issue in this post is that you think I'm proving your point by showing how Waddle had to share targets with Hill. Tyreek Hill was a 1st team All Pro who was 2nd in the NFL in yards that season. If you think Jaylen Waddle sharing targets with a 1st team All Pro and a future HOFer is even remotely in the same category as T-Mac needing to share targets with Coker... then you are certifiably insane, lol. If anything, you could make the argument that Coker is to Waddle as T-Mac is to Hill in that discussion (which would then lead to a serious increase in targets/yards for T-Mac).  But even that is insane, as neither T-Mac or Coker will be as good as Hill and Waddle respectively that season.  I love both of their potential, but c'mon now, T-Mac isn't getting 119 catches for 1,700 yards and Coker isn't getting 117 for 1,350 next season.
