Jason Avant Visiting Panthers Monday

give cam some fuggin targets that can hold on to the ball instead of dropping then consistently and he's gonna get them in position to score. we can pick up a dynamic big playmaking WR or two in the draft and have them join targets that cam can depend on to catch the ball and move the chains.

I hope this is still the plan. I would add that I would like to have players who can do something with the ball after they catch it. Our YAC yards were the lowest in the league. While Cam was still passing for a above avg. 7.8 yards per play.

Our team features our defense. Our offense intends to extend drives, eat clock, run the ball, and convert when needed.

So far, cotchery and avant fit those roles, especially with great hands and blocking. The one word I am looking for is RELIABLE. Something Cam didn't have last season, with lafell and Ginn who dropped a ton, and a short aging guy who sure had his drops as well.

Olsen, cotchery, avant. That's a reliable group. Our fireball will come in the draft (3rd round is still considered a high pick on WR, with it being tremendously deep)

You can get 2 out this draft and waiting till the 3rd because you signed a couple of Jags isn't the smartest plan.

And what is this team trying to do? I'm curious

They keep changing the line ever week. Whenever we might sign someone they hail Gettleman's genius, but when we don't actually sign them they are content to have McNutt as our #3.

I don't know what the fuss is. The can only be beneficial. He's a solid receiver. Reid loved the guy.

They want to set themselves up to take BPA in the draft with needs in mind.

I not complaining until the draft plays out.

like i've said I hope these signing aren't detours from drafting young talent.

OL and WR is what we need. With our cap situation it will take time though.

I agree and this draft is a gift for teams who need these things.

Like I said I understand the plan if Gettelmen saw how deep this draft was at WR. And saw it as a opportunity to get younger and more talent at that position.

Look at the prospects we've met with.

That's why I'm not hitting the panic button because they seem to be following the scenario. Where Gettelmen knew this draft would be deep in WR so we could afford to let the other guys go.

I see the blueprint for getting a wr corp ..........the LT position is not as easy. I also see the RT position being pretty deep but I cannot see our LT on the roster .........hope I am wrong.

    • Roger all that. Do you think BY avoided any sacks last game? This oline is not what you're touting them to be. They are much better then 2023! Much much much better than 2023. But come on now, you'd expect this expensive oline (most are run blocking specialist) to at least dominate in the run game every game.  And... I keep telling you our WRs and TEs are not that good yet. I mean last Sunday was a prime example. Our receiving targets never make plays like those. Never. And this is from one of the worst teams in the league. Shough could have easily had 3 INTs if not for his receivers making plays on the ball. Our guys just don't do that. XL almost allowed an INT backing up out of bounds instead of coming to the ball. And everyone would have blamed that on BY. That's why he doesn't throw to that dude. I can't recall a game except maybe the second Falcons game - maybe, where I thought our receivers could possibly be better than the other team's. I think TMac and Coker have a lot of potential. But they're aren't consistent. But they're young and WILL improve. I'm confident of that.  I don't agree that BY was drafted to only stand in the pocket. He has always been best off schedule - for better or worse.
    • Do you think you will get a direct answer?  Icky giving up 5 pressures (playing hurt in his defense) by himself and Bryce only getting sacked once tells you he played well in the pocket.  He extended plays and converted some tough downs.
    • I've been very apprehensive about potentially firing yet another head coach. But Canales needs to focus on being a head coach first and foremost and begin handing off some responsibilities like playcalling duties and begin overseeing the entire team or we need to assess all possible ideal HC candidates in the offseason.
