Lower-key bar/restaurant in Charlotte with a nice patio...

Looking for something like the title. Preferably with a view, and preferably far away from the Baseball stadium since I know it's going to be packed on Friday!

Anybody know of any good spots. It's for a first date.  Just need somewhere for drinks and conversation.

Try Vivace at the Metropolitan. It's got a pretty good churn inside, but the patio is great and it's a great place for a date. Great food(Appetizers and flat bread pizzas if you want to keep it simple/affordable), great wine list, it looks out over downtown and the greenway.

If you're both more into craft beers, etc. you could also try the Peculiar Rabbit over off Thomas St./Plaza Midwood area. Great appetizers/food, drink list and the top floor has patio dining with one of the best views of downtown I've seen from a restaurant in a long time.

Both of these places have extensive drink lists and great appetizers. If the date goes really well, they both have great entrees/desserts in case you decide to stay longer.

Vivace has an upstairs patio as well, no?

Yes, but they often book it for private groups, and one side is open to the rest of the upstairs seating, which can be pretty loud. Unless it's super windy, my wife and I usually prefer the portion of the patio facing the greenway.

Also, if OP is just looking for beers/bar food, the Hickory Tavern right next door has a patio as well. We've caught a couple of Panthers games there and had good experiences each time.

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
