nevermind

Scouts question Otah's work ethic and his commitment to staying in shape.

Hurney magic.

I'll be honest here and say I wanted to see Otah have one more shot and be healthy and prove what he's worth.
This trade obviously shows that the FO doesn't think this will happen and Rivera did indeed not like him.

In regards to the excuse of "inability to foresee chronic issues," it was Otah's lack of effort to try and rehab and get better. This should have happened last year. Hurney gets thrown in the dog house for the lack of character judgement, trading up for this guy, and holding on to him for too long.

Based on a story I heard about Otah this offseason from a very reliable source I'm not surprised.

James Dator@James_Dator

One day I might tell it. Right now though, I'm afraid id get sued
Not what I thought when we were talking another trade. I guess we will be picking another tackle or two before the end of camp.

we just picked up that amount with Murphy

True that. I doubt his cap hit is that high though.
Moves to sign JStew?
yay

James Dator ‏@James_DatorTip for anyone looking to be a member of the Carolina Panthers: Don't be lazy

Didn't even see this til now, exactly.
I bet we draft an OT in either round 1 or 2 next draft.

Where the hell are the Jeff otah homers..

Not a homer, but for the 2012 season Otah was dirt cheap and would have given us Pro Bowl caliber play if he could of stepped on the field. Don't like the trade. Now we have garbage at RT.

Trading away OL depth ain't good no matter how it is spun. We got a franchise QB and RBs. Bell could of got Cam killed last year and now he is the top dawg.

Moves to sign JStew?

these moves have nothing to do with Stewart. We needed/ wanted another receiving threat as evidenced by us trying to sign jacoby jones earlier. Most likely would have let Otah walk for nothing next year or possibly could have even reached a boiling point and cut him this year
I feel sorry for the poor Jets fans reading this thread right now, trying to gauge our opinion of Otah.

As long as this trade was for at least a 4th, hopefully a 3rd or higher, I think it was a smart move on our part. Best to get something out of a bust 1st round pick than nothing.

Wait, are people really going to blame Hurney because Otah couldn't stay healthy? REALLY?

He was an excellent offensive lineman in '08 and '09. Shame he couldn't stay healthy. But it isn't like Hurney picked a scrub. Stuff happens. Otah got hurt. What is Hurney going to do about that?

that's what hurney haters do. lol

Bell ain't garbage.
To Hurney's credit, this is his only 1st round bust. So everyone that's acting like an Asshole saying, "hurney magic" and all that can jump off a cliff.

Compared to other GM's he's been very consistent with the 1st round picks..Which you would want to begin with.

the first of a string of bad moves on Hurney's part

Hurney's working to right the wrongs though going back to last year and for the most part he's made forward progress.
I think this sends the right message heading into training camp. If Jeff plays well we might get a nice pick. If he doesn't play at all, well it's nice to get him out of our locker.
well...have fun with The Golden Calf of Bristol

Bell ain't garbage.

This is another confusing thing I don't get.

What do people see in Bell? He sucked last year. UDFA or not, it doesn't matter. He was horrible.
If he goes to NY and plays well I'm gonna be mother FUGGIN IRATE!!!!

Bell ain't garbage.

Bell is a good story. Hopefully he develops.

What we saw in 2011 was garbage RT play from him. But he was an undrafted rookie...so that is to be expected......but let's not pretend like his play shouldn't be a HUGE concern.
And if the Jets needed a RT so badly we should have gotten a guaranteed 3rd rndr minimum for Otah!

HORRIBLE trade.... Only good IF* he goes down for the season

I guess it does speak highly of the guys we currently have though... I hope our line stays healthy though.
