  1. Past hour
  2. Saturday Oct 17th will NOT be a home game for Carolina Thanks, Ed Sheeran, for making that plan for us
  3. can see some teams playing back-to-back in Europe (maybe as two road games OR as a home team + road team), kinda like what the Jags do in London, or how the Vikings did it this past year in London and Dublin
  4. I think people are missing the difficult part of doing this and that is having a competent FO that has the skill/ability to draft and fill out a roster. This isn’t easy to do. The Steelers have that ability. A few teams do/did (49ers/Eagles). The Panthers absolutely have and do NOT.
  5. I get what you're saying about showing up but like you said, TV money dwarfs stadium, but people have to tune in. That's the normal fans they've lost the connection with. I barely watch NFL anymore because the product is poo. With all the technology, it's easier to see how bad the calls are and most of it could be fixed with some effort. I realize they're trying to go abroad but soccer is far more popular worldwide and I don't see American football taking that away. If they wanted to maximize profits, fix the product before it gets down right impossible to watch, and it's damn close to being there. Pro wrestling is still popular even though it's scripted because they're embraced the show and entertaining the fans. Goodell is probably one of the most out of touch people I've ever seen when it comes to being relatable to the fans. At least Vince McMahon is someone that embraced his villain character. RG is just a douchebag.
  6. Defense was being built but that offense had some talent around Cam. I agree Cam elevated the team that’s undeniable
  7. Hell no. Tet and Coker are better than all those dudes
  8. there's a fantastic youtube explanation of the scheduling process the NFL goes through. It's not simple https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bS1xGetyrh0 (embed won't work, need to view on YouTube directly)
  9. Yeah, I suppose that is one way of looking at it. I would disagree about the 25 teams. The truly terrible franchises are relatively small in number each year.
  10. Its more of a contender discount than a bad team tax. Since probably 25 teams fall under the "terrible franchise" tax by FA money paid.
  11. Beane turned around a franchise that was a perennial loser and in his 9 years running the show he's made the playoffs 8 times. He's been one of the most successful GMs during his tenure and folks here throwing shade at him makes zero sense. If Morgan can follow these footsteps, he will be a god in Carolina.
  12. Agree. They absolutely need to build a more complete roster. But let's also acknowledge that they had the worst pass blocking interior oline in the NFL, and a receiving group highlighted by a 33 years old possession receiver. Those areas needed to be addressed for whoever you put back there. But agree with their approach after the 2023 season. You should do everything in your power to give the #1 pick in the draft every opportunity to succeed (maybe not panic spend for OGs). Particularly if you mortgage the farm to go up and get him. Not sure if it was saving face as much as improving a very bad roster. Now do I think they should have gone up to get Bryce (or CJ or anyone) in 2023? Heck no.
  13. The Panthers tax is just the "terrible franchise" tax. It has existed forever. You get guys motivated by extreme money and ignore the fact that they won't win. For higher level competitors that want to win, they will just avoid bottom tier franchises entirely unless there are no other options available. That is basically us.
  14. PFF has yet to perfect the formula for Big Time Catches (BTC) also don’t say “by that logic” it gives big “dying on stage while my wife cucks me” energy
  15. I agree, hence why I have repeatedly said we need to cut Hunt in the 2027 offseason. He isn't elite but he has the third highest RG contract. That's insane. Plus Moton is very close to coming off the books. If we paid Linderbaum as the #1 overall center, he would still be significantly lower paid than Lewis, Hunt and Moton. This is why I keep stressing the need to do something at center. It the biggest bang for the buck on any NFL OL.
  16. If you're a contender and have a legit QB, you can find some deals in FA. But every other signing is an overpay. I don't think there's any real evidence for the Panthers tax when you look at what every team pays for the top free agents. Everyone gets overpaid in FA. It's how it works.
  17. Should be easy too. Weeks 7 and 8 are byes and week 14 and 15. Also every team plays a division game before and after their byes
  18. The internet has called BS on Beane not wanting Coleman
  19. Agree but we can't have an entire offensive line on big contracts.
  20. After today’s disastrous press conference, McDermott looks like the hero and the owner (Pegula) and Beane like a pure mess that nobody will want to work with.
  21. Most professional sports owners barely care if you show up because the TV money dwarfs the amount generated in the stadium. The NFL particularly is like that. If you look at NFL stadium trends, it's about adding "premium" features to raise the prices to the stratosphere and out of the hands of average folks. Also consider that the NFL prioritizes the richest people on the planet owning their teams. They aren't losing touch with the fans, they lost that years ago. It's about how much it takes before the foundation starts to crumble. Also, they all see it is coming in the US. That's behind the attempts to be global. The NBA will never fail because it is a global sport now. The NFL is desperately trying to achieve this because they are on a direct path to failure.
  22. I'm at the point where if I can get anything for XL in a trade I'm moving him. Even if it's a late round conditional pick. I like the guy and was rooting for him but on terms of football getting him off the roster would be addition by subtraction. I like T-Mac and Coker on the outside, now just find a decent slot. The good thing about finding Coker as a UDFA in that class is that it takes some of the sting off of the XL bust pick if Coker essentially becomes what we were hoping for out of XL.
  23. I'll also add that if you just replace Legette with Romeo Doubs, the WR core is a much more complete and cohesive unit.
  24. You could be right but which position groups are better in Carolina? Maybe secondary with the upgraded version of Mike Jackson? Maybe WRs at the end of the season? DBs - CAR close ILBs - BUF not close DL - BUF close. CAR advantage interior DL. BUF advantage pass rushers Receivers - CAR really close. CAR WR at the end of season with Jalen Coker - not before. BUF TEs by a large margin. RBs - BUF not close OL - BUF not close
  25. Yep. You gotta build something first. We haven't built anything. And I mean really build it. It isn't like Tampa became a serious option for ring chasers in the post Brady era despite "dominating" the NFC South. You have to build something veteran NFL players believe in. Not just a spot to get a massive paycheck.
