Who are the top QB prospects for the 2015 draft?
Martin replied to Panthero's topic in 2015 NFL Draft
As expected there are a couple of new names emerging, one I’m interested in is Cincinnati QB Brendan Sorsby -
I didn’t know what you meant so, that was needed. Yeah that kind of culture is pretty toxic. If the HC is an offensive genius, okay, but he is a very weird duck. I saw him answering some questions a couple of years ago and he just didn’t seem like the head coach type. Off the wall answers.
-
Yeah, right now there needs to be a culture shift there. I think the coach lost the lead roll in that a while back and there has been a vacuum there since the real team lead went on IR. And if you don't know what I mean, it was the guy that once ran his sports car away from the cops to the team facilities rather than get a speeding and reckless driving ticket. And somehow got away with it, with no repercussions.
-
I would do it for Jones, not for Bryce.
-
The odds are good that you are correct.
-
Today's lineup of games is not great.
-
A lot less expensive than the mistake of signing the wrong guy to a franchise QB contract. The Giants are still recovering from making that mistake with Jones. $47M in dead cap last year and $22M this year.

Can’t say I disagree totally with baseball being boring but I do find it kind of ironic that a Panthers fan is calling it out. Panthers football has been the most boring, uninspired, head scratching sport on tv for quite some time now. But we have been and will continue to keep watching. edit: think about it, we are so bad they won’t even put us on Thursday night football. And to keep the thread on track, Duke beats Clemsux today
-
Franchise tag would be insanely expensive.

I think the people who think Tepper told Canales to bench Young have it wrong. Also they have it wrong claiming his postgame comments as proof. Coaches lie all the time about that stuff. Like owners lie about coaches. It even has a name: the dreaded vote of confidence. They are simply not going to tell you something like that before they talk to the player, number one. You don’t really need another reason but you might include he isn’t benching the kid without talking g to the owner that really had just hired him. I think he had to clear the benching with the owner. Without audio or video that includes audio of Tepper telling Canales to bench Bryce, I will never believe it happened like that.

Yea seems like the most obvious case of fools gold yet

It's either Bryce or Daniel Jones and it's probably going to be Bryce.

I mean, I respect your opinion, and your station as an ol' timer, but you're giving credit that he may not deserve. Some people suspected that it was pressure from on high that precipitated the Young benching. I mean Canales said at after the game, with his chest, that Bryce was the starter. Then, overnight, he looked at the tape and magically did an about-face. I mean, it's not a stretch at all to think that you have to keep playing the so-called "hot hand," lest you interrupt the mojo. It's not a stretch to take into account that old football theory about RBs needing to get into a rhythm. It's not a stretch to think that against a bad run defense, that you need to prioritize running the ball (with your most proficient back, no less, or at least the one that had recently been running all over teams). I mean, I can like Canales (or not), but still see that his situational play calling leaves something to be desired. I think Canales is too slow to act and react. If you saw the video, the Bills kept running the same damned run play, except to different sides or with a slightly different wrinkle, and yet Canales doesn't tell Evero to get his head out his crack and do something to stop it. Moreover, he chose to keep Evero in the first place, which is somewhat provocative in itself. So, yeah, Canales doesn't get the benefit of doubt with me. His only saving grace in my mind is that he was saddled with Bryce Young, so maybe he should get some grace to turn Bryce around, or get his own QB so that we can take away all excuses and see what Canales can do without the built-in excuses. We don't have to do anything. Canales is not untouchable. Now will we probably keep him? Probably. But you never know. Let me tell you a little story. During the BYE week, David Tepper decides to take a trip down to Cabo trying to chill but can't help commiserating about how his team has gotten blown out by the Bills, Packers and the Rams (a fresh loss on the forefront of his mind). He's sitting in the beach bar, throwing back some cold ones, waiting for a freshly grilled steak and a fresh bottle of Heinz, and in walks Jon Gruden. Dave and Jon get to discussing the Panthers and what should be done and should've been done, and the rest is history. Imaginary? Yes. Could Tepper wake up after another blowout and decide---seemingly impetuously, but not really---that the current head coach ain't working. Hell, it's not like there isn't some precedent...

If they're smart the same way the Vikings should've handled the Darnold situation. Franchise tag. I wouldn't want to pay Jones after one year of good play while being carried by a RB having an MVP caliber season. That would probably prove to be a mistake. The franchise tag might too but at least you're free and clear after a year if it is.

Gonna be interesting to see how the Colts handle that situation
-
Wasnt Baker coming off injury when first here…i dont remember the Rhule Fitterer years were a hot mess and the franchise is still paying both Darnold and Baker csn play, and could play They rose with better organizations and coaches …neither of which the Panthers had. Im not sure what the Panthers have now

Baseball, the time in between pitches gives you time to ponder the strategy as there is often a lot of it to consider. the DH has robbed the game of a good part of that. But a well pitched 1-0 game can be seen as boring, or full of drama depending on your perspective.
-
When you’re supposed to be an offensive guru type hc and your offense stinks, you’re in trouble. Just like Ron’s time was up here once the defense sucked.
-
I read it in the Athletic, they said coach was safe for the season. Probably gone then though.

Running backs and QBs have a symbiotic relationship. Its a team sport

Kaye: Panthers not likely to be "sellers" at trade deadline
Tr3ach replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I get what you're saying to an extent, but bringing in Rico on a cheap deal and his performance so far kind of shows why you might trade Chubba, or at least why you dont give rb big deals. Its not that all uncommon to find solid rbs on the scrap heap. The only time having a great rb longterm really helps is when you are a great team already. -

This Also, on this team right now, I think you need some kind of consistency builder. Giving Chuba a second contract and then trading him away so early in it doesn't look great in a locker room for a team trying to build an identity. -
Somebody was going to. Not sure if McDaniels survives the season there. And they'd be letting a good coach go.

There is no reason to watch a June matchup on tv between bad teams such as the Pirates and Rockies, unless you have money riding on the game, or you are just a diehard fan. True enough. There are some rule changes that have been brought about to prevent some of that downtime in the game as well. There is a distinct difference when you are at the ballpark compared to watching a broadcast. There is something special about going out to see a game for your local team in the minors. It really almost harkens back to a simpler time when sports were just sports. I think the 162 game season is too long. World Series elimination games, and Stanley Cup elimination games are in a class by themselves. There is a definite tension and anticipation for the duration.
