It all depends on the conversations Canales and Tepper had when they hired him. If Canales said he doesn't think Bryce is that guy, but he'll do everything he can to get him there, but he's only taking the job if Tepper agrees to let him get 1 season post Bryce, then I think he's fine. I also think there is a very real possibility that discussion took place given how Bryce looked his rookie year. If that never happened and Canales told Tepper he believed Bryce could be that guy, then it's not hot in terms of a midseason firing. After cycling through coaches so quickly, Tepper isn't firing Canales mid season again. He's fine until at least Week 15, if things are THAT bad at that point, he might just fire him to get a head start on the official job search being able to start. But he'll get the "full season" just because he can't fire another coach so quickly. In that scenario, I think he's "fired" by week 5 in Tepper's mind.

I think Morgan hit on some good players this draft, so I cant fault him there. If you exclude the most obvious problems (Tepper & Bryce) I think you give Morgan/Canales another year.
-
I was surprised to see Tech suck that bad.
-
I’ve also never seen a team collapse like Zona did. That was wild. Two poo teams
-
He also has never played the third game so far.
-
They had to do something. I mean, they looked like possibly the worst power conference team in the country. They're not just 0-3. They've lost every game by two scores averaging a near 20 point deficit per loss and seem to be getting worse every week having just lost by 19 to Old Dominion. That level of play is gonna decimate your recruiting a lot more than pulling the plug on it.

The Offense is too bad to justify firing him now

So, just what is it that makes a QB "elite"?

You mean the same ones that were in there for the first 3 quarters?

Compare Campbell's supporting cast to Brown's
-
Id like to see him with a competent QB that doesn't look like an 8th grader out there
-
Yeah that bothered me. I hate chasing points which if miss the first one, that’s what usually happens.

It's starting to look like we have another kicker who does not have a strong leg. Second straight week we have turned down the chance to even attempt a 58 yard field goal and instead punted from the 40 yard line. Would've made a big difference in both games.

Never a fan of that approach. It misses way too often

OL got better over time. High snaps are still an issue. Mayes didn't look much better than Corbett but his balls were low enough. Senior Citizen Calais Campbell was owning our interior. The run offense wasn't good but we were also playing from behind the entire game due to early mistakes. Later in the game we were running it decently on first and second downs. The short yardage plays had to be designed with chuba as a fullback to get anything. Defenses seem to know when Rico is about to get the ball. They were on him almost immediately every time. XL not mentally there. He was trying to do too much or not doing enough. The TEs were used really well in the 3rd&4th to eat up dink and dunk yardage. All 3 of our guys were getting looks. Brycen seems like a steal. One handed catch behind him was unreal. That should have been a pick. Renfrow is getting a lot of looks. He's still putting his body on the line too much to catch some of these horrible balls. TMac looked great. There was 1 ball where he should have caught it which was broken up. But pretty much everything else was a big positive yardage play and showing more shiftiness than I thought he would. Defensive line turned up. It took them a while. Getting Princely and Nick in helps a lot too. Keeps the older guys fresh. Both MLBs are awful. Bad angles. Bad play diagnosis. Bad wrap up. No coverage skills. McBride was eating them up. Kyler's big run was from what should have been a sure-fire sack. Need some more energy and beef from the MLBs in this scheme. nick scott... Ransom looked like he wanted to hit someone and enforce the middle. Moehrig still needs to show us something more. They tried to pick on Mike Jack but he started making plays. Don't think they tested Jaycee that much outside of running the ball his way sometimes. The tackling at times was really poor. If it wasn't for Arizona constantly shooting themselves in the foot with holding penalties and kyler being kyler, this game could have easily been worse. Special teams was tackling better after a while. Kicker looks good. The onside kick was crazy. I don't like Bryce. I don't like his playstyle. I don't like what it requires to keep him serviceable. He made some good plays throughout the game. But he also put us in the hole to begin with. I would have liked for Bryce to hit the weight room harder by the 3rd year in the league. I need him to clean up his fumbles. More than throwing costly interceptions, he's fumbling the ball more often than not. He just doesn't have the strength to hold on. Weird that Kyler threw the same lame duck interception as him.

Sounds like it's time for Cade Mays.

Fun fact--in Bryce's 6 wins in 2+ seasons, none have been by more than one score and all came down to the wire. So even in his wins he had to snatch victory out the jaws of defeat. Largest margin of victory is 6 points, twice, both times in OT.

I Feel Bad For All of You - Thank God for Tetairoa McMillan

Don't think that's an exaggeration in the slightest. I always said his floor if he never improved one bit in the NFL, was as the 25th-ish best WR, as that's where I thought he'd come into the league as a rookie. Now wondering if maybe I actually underestimated my guy on that one, he's already a Top 20, maybe borderline Top 15 already. He's the real deal, he's showing the hands, the after catch speed and agility that I said everyone was sleeping on. Can't wait until we start calling proper red zone play calls and he can start showcasing what a beast he is down there on jump balls too. -
This bad? Young gave the Cards 10 points today.
-
Andy Reid or Sean McVay could be our coach and they’re not winning poo with Bryce under center.
-
The jury isn't out. He is simply not an NFL caliber starting QB. I will say that it is certainly possible in a few years after he makes his way through some other NFL stops that he develops but I find that very unlikely.
-
Still way to early in the season to view Canales on the hot seat, and even if we continue to lose, I still don't see Tepper pulling the trigger... I think Evero will be sacrificed and Canales will end up bringing in his own D coordinator. Also, if Bryce doesn't improve, I see a potential trade + new QB in the horizon.

He has never once played well in a meaningful NFL game.

Ever since Cam, the Huddle has had differing opinions on the Panthers QB. When they play great, he's a stud. When they play poorly, he either sucks ... or "it's not his fault". I'd like to focus on that last bit. When Cam played poorly, it was "the scheme sucks", "the O-line sucks", "the WRs suck", etc. And now it looks as if Young is getting some of this same treatment. I am on the Young Doesn't Have It side of things, so I ask those that are rooting for him (or think there are reasons for his poor play) to answer a question for me. And those that think Young stinks can chime in too! WHAT MAKES A QB ELITE? At Bama, Young had it all. Elite coaching, an elite O-line, elite WRs, and elite RBs. At Carolina, he does not. So ... was Young simply an avg QB on an elite Bama team? Or was he elite too? And at the NFL level, how can we truly judge QBs? Are the ones that are "elite" (Mahomes, Allen, Hurts, Jackson) elite because THEY are elite? Or ... is it the team around them? Of course Young would play better if the O-line was elite (I heard a rumor it was), had better WRs, had an elite coach, etc. But ... if say, Josh Allen were our QB and sucked ... would the narrative still fit? What if Allen were here and got us wins? Then what's your reasoning? I think if you are an elite QB ... you're an elite QB. Mahomes, for example, loses from time to time (0-2 right now). Is he a good QB? Or is his team carrying him? His team is of course not avg. Young's is avg, but it does not look like he can overcome an avg supporting cast. ELITE QBS CAN! So how can one truly identify if a QB is elite or not? I mean ... Daniel Jones is looking pretty decent right now for the Colts. Our old pals Baker and Sam are doing pretty well ... so that definitely fits your narrative. But ... lots of people ragged on them here. So, are they playing well now because they are good, or because they're in a better situation? I'll end my ramble here, Young should be able to play better with what he has seeing as how he was a #1 pick. He is not doing so. If the team ever puts all the pieces in place and he turns it around, cool. But the team will never do that. So it's not a sin to say Young stinks ... because he does. It doesn't make you less of a fan of the Panthers to admit to this. You can see his struggles with your own two eyes. Just try and answer in your own head what makes a QB elite and then ask if Young has that. Sorry for the word fort.
