The Athletic's "Undrafted Player to Watch"
Panthers Rhule replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's a big ass center! Is there any center in the NFL that weighs 320 lbs? Also, we drafted a center last season. Not sure this guy is a center even if he took reps at the senior bowl. Looks like a guard to me unless his build is better suited to a lesser weight. In a zone scheme centers need to be able to move quickly. -
The majority of NFL draft picks don't play all too many snaps lined up directly across from another NFL player, and I don't think many people really realize this. Unless you play a game against one of the 2-4 schools that are putting half their lineup into the NFL each season, most teams who have multiple draft picks, MIGHT only have 2-4 draft picks in any given season. Some skill positions get around 30 players drafted each year, other positions are in the teens to low 20's. With at least a handful of them coming from non power conference schools too. So the odds for any WR or CB to get too many games lined up directly against another future draft pick is pretty low. The better odds are that they get lined up against a future NFL player, i.e. a junior or senior WR getting lined up against a freshman or sophomore DB who will get drafted in a couple of years. Then if you take it one step further and look for players who actually play in the NFL and make a difference. You're basically looking at players drafted in the first 3 rounds of the draft, so a little less than 100 players a year, spread out across all the positions and conferences (which in today's massive conferences, teams have even lower odds of player the teams with more NFL players than ever before).

I really had high hope that Bozeman would be that answer. Solid player and all-around good guy. Still looking... -

Eventually we will be forced to quit fuging around at center and find an actual long term solution. It's inevitable. -
This was also a weird draft because unless you were in the top 5, you weren't landing a blue-chip player. I think Dan handled it beautifully... got Tmac, the consensus best WR in the draft, 2 all SEC DE/OLB's, a solid SS, TE depth, RB depth, WR depth, NT depth (all positions of need). Hard to give it an A, IMO, because no 1 player wows me, but unless Carter dropped, no one was going to.

Did you see the texts? Did you listen to the recording of the call? I mean... If you want to just delusionally support your hero, cool. But the writing has been on the wall about who Smitty is off the field for a long time. Loved watching the guy play ball but he's a guy I have zero desire to meet and I'm done defending him.

Center is such an important position and one that is way too downplayed. And while this guy is strong, has he got the brains to do the job? A smart center with a high football IQ to boot can make a QB's life much, much easier. -
And still, is there any proof that he even had the affair? There's money, but there's also the damage to a multiple decades marriage with kids that could be caused simply because someone lied to their spouse that they'd had an affair with a celebrity. I mean, we seem very, very ready to convict him of doing it on no actual proof. And that ain't right, for him or for anyone.

With Zavala and Mays' improvement last season, It'll be exciting to see how this guy adjusts to the NFL with our o-line coaches. With Mays and Corbett on 1 year contacts, we may be looking at him at center. -
Carolina Panthers: Luke Kandra, G, Cincinnati An explosive guard, Kandra (6-5, 320) has enough power (33 bench-press reps at the combine) to bully defenders at the line. He’s a decent-enough mover to hang on either side of the center and works to overcome some flexibility issues with discipline and effort. Kandra took center reps during Hula Bowl practices. Carolina will also get a look at UCF WR Kobe Hudson and Miami WR Jacolby George. Link: Best Undrafted Free Agent Fits for 2025

Sounds like we've got a new prospect in the pipeline. Should be ready to skate with the big boys for the 43/44 season.

That's the thing. The plan is to get the money before having to go through with all that. It's a bluffing game. Smitty is going to try to force the man to go through with it to avoid or reduce a payout and the man is going to try to convince Smitty he's willing to do it and he's definitely willing. Hell, he's already done it. I cannot even imagine something more humiliating than sharing texts between your wife and another man with her praising him for knocking the bottom out of it and rearranging her IUD. I mean, oh my God... LOLOLOLOL
