Josina Anderson: Panthers NOT trading Adam Thielen
TheSpecialJuan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Per Mike Kaye Seemingly a nuanced situation. The #Panthers gave him a raise after he contemplated retirement earlier this offseason. Felt like his entire summer was understated, even after taking a bunch of teammates to MIN before camp. Can’t just give away the leading WR of the past two years, but he’s been a leader and good soldier throughout a couple of brutal seasons and there’s the human element of wanting to finish where he started and basically spent his entire life. Plus, youth movement of four young wideouts added over past two years. Don’t think it’s an easy outlook either way. https://x.com/mike_e_kaye/status/1960173090068984217?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA -

per Joe Person https://x.com/josephperson/status/1960172549108572343?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA Dan Morgan isn’t going to give him away, no matter if Thielen wants out. -

Yeah it sounds like he's close to gone. Hope we get a reasonable return. Definitely a player I'll miss. -

From what I understand, the talks have been going on for 4 days, maybe 5. Adam and his agent were reached out to because he needed to agree to a pay cut to go back to Minny. Which as far as I know, he's agreed to take a pay cut and wants to go back. It seems like either Adam, his wife or agent are leaking everything now because of how much him and his wife want to return to Minnesota. -

AT was ready to retire and go home…that was the front office’s first mistake. -

Can't really expect any less. Tepper and this organization have been a clown show for years. Minny could make a SB run and Carolina is likely headed for another losing season because our defense is well... bad. -

That’s his home. And he will always be a Viking. I bet once the talks started….AT was mentally done here -
Sure but Allen was undrafted and neither is really a legit backup QB that makes you even remotely comfortable if your starter goes down. Of course there aren’t 32 backups that would make one comfortable but there are some guys like Foles out there who are legit. Journeyman low end back up QB is fine for a 5th rounder but personally if I knew that’s what I was getting I’d rather take a shot on another position who could have potential to start or be a rotational player.

Bit of a dog act if hes trying to force his way out after we gave him a pay bump when we didn't need too -

He definitely wants to go back, him and his wife stay there in the off-season. He's worked out with JJ the last two offseasons and has done an interview about JJ and how good he thinks he's going to be. Neither wanted to leave Minnesota in the first place but he didn't want to retire yet, now it's getting down to what seems like his last year and he wants to go back to Minnesota, play his last year there and retire a Viking. - Today

A 5th and 6th isn't bad but Panthers would have to pay a chunk of his salary and possibly that 6th rounder might be in 2027 -

Give Dan Morgan credit for holding out for proper compensation but it seems he may have to take less than what Adam is worth to us. -

They've offered a 5th and 6th according to Vikings sources. Panthers want a 4th plus 6th I believe. -

That's the bit I didn't want to throw out without another source. So now it's out, AT and his wife want to go back home. So he's actually pushing for this trade since him and his agent had to get involved because of the paycut request. Why I've stood firm that the trade would eventually happen. -

It seems to me that Adam Thielen's agent is using Adam Schefter as a way to make this trade happen. -

If they are willing to do the 4th with a performance clause to bump to a 3rd, problem solved. -

What, Thielen wants to go back to an organization that's not run like a circus? Nah..... -
Really think that it would be both a pro and a con. As it could help the environment. But also wonder over in gas mileage there is a difference with an ordinary car to that over in an electric vehicle.
