This Bryce Guy (General BY Discussion in Here)
PNW_PantherMan replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
I like how it’s moved all the way from “no QB would succeed here” to “you guys would rather have a good QB and a losing record”. It’s probably time to hang it up. -

do you want to focus on Mayfield, Darnold, or Daniel Jones career records too or maybe just their current seasons? -

Of course you do. $25m is a ridiculous amount of money to commit to a replacement level player. A moronic amount. -

Mate, he's 11-27 as a starter, if you actually want to go there. -

You know offenses play against the defense, not each other, right? -
Same podcast. Wasn’t it for 40 ish yards? Early 2nd Qtr? Then take the 19 from the last possession you get maybe 40-45 yards from there until 2 minutes left. I won’t use the conditions to dog him, we did what was necessary to win. The OL was patchwork, they have great pass rusher, the wind was howling… it all dictated the style of play. We’ll get more evidence soon I hope.

Yep.

Listen man. I don't want to be rude. But I have to be very direct here. You are not dealing in realities. Here is the reality. It took #1 overall pick Bryce Young who was billed as a generational ball distributor 19 starts to surpass UDFA Kyle Allen's passing yardage from 2019 over the course of 13 games. Bryce Young is not favorably comparable to any other former Panthers QB expect Jimmy Clausen. It is what it is.

A lot of people will come back, actually.

I'd still have preferred to have Tyler Warren or Matthew Golden. Canales is building this offense like he's got a 6'4, red haired bonifide MVP candidate, but we let that guy walk. For Bryce, you need slicers and dicers.

Shout out for the offensive line coaches
Carolina Cajun replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes, but kinda only mostly yes. So I said it a while back both here and on twitter. If you have a bad O-line, the answer is simple. Run. The. Ball. Pass blocking is a FAR more difficult thing to do. It requires high IQ players understanding blocking assignments and where rush is coming from. On the flip side, if you have a bad O-line, RUN THE BALL! It simplifies the game plan for them. instead of trying to catch where pressure is and playing with great technique, you can just so "See guy, hit guy", hat on a hat, hard nose football. The More I watch, the more I also do give huge props to rico because he is so explosive. He's a one cut and go guy where as chuba is a more patient runner in the backfield, and when we had great O-line play last year, it works AMAZING. Rico hides meh run blocking because hes off before the defense has a chance to try to move the blockers. its just incredible explosiveness from him. So as I said, its great coaching by the O-line coaches, but its also great understanding by canales to just grind and run and great job by our banged up unit to keep performing at a high level. - Today

There's an old unwritten rule in the NFL that you don't lose your starting position due to injury. The guys in the locker room know it and live by it. Rico knew it coming in and he never said a word otherwise except for praise for Chuba. And when Chuba came back, the Coach put him back as the starter and gave him the lead job for the game. And now it seems like Rico is in the first chair and Chuba is the supporting running back. We may see it move back and forth. And that might not be based on prior game performance but because of injury or fatigue issues we have no knowledge of, or because one or the other can handle the game plan details better than the other. It could be something as simple as one of the guys being better at pass protection from the left or right side and they are comparing that with where they are seeing tendencies from the opposing team. More than anything, I think that it's much like our inactivity at the trade deadline, Canales is building a very solid, traditional pro football culture here. And it may sometimes deal with more of what the players expect than what their fantasy football stats are.

Unless they sign a Vet or Mike White is the next coming of Jesus.....don't have much choice. -
Arvell Reese. He’s a monster. Would fit perfectly in our base 3-4. Don’t walk. Run to the podium.
