I actually don't mind Evero; he's got his ups and downs like just about anybody. I'm ok with him still being our coordinator because a) I think continuity is underrated and b) I hope he grows from some of his shortcomings and only gets better. But he's particularly bad in late game prevent defense, which he's been fortunate to this point because we're rarely in position of holding a late lead in his tenure and the few times we have been, he's either exposed or bailed out by a turnover. If we've actually forced a stop, i.e. turnover on downs, I can hardly remember it. But at the same time, he's kept us competitive against some good offenses especially when our offense doesn't set the other team up with multiple bad turnovers.

We had a number of fans here who couldn't wait to get Cam Newton out the door so I don't see it as being far fetched there are some Ravens fans that aren't enamored with Lamar Jackson. As it is Lamar has squarely placed the burden of the entire franchise on himself now with Harbaugh out as he receives minute by minute updates from the Ravens org about their head coaching search. Agreed but Denver did get much better on defense after him. I think a pretty good chunk of that was just it being built but I would never consider him in the top 15 of NFL DC's.

Trading away home grown talent before paying them a massive raise on a new contract is a perfectly valid way to build a team. The reason it turned out so bad for us is that Fitterer was such a horrific evaluator of talent, so we got crap out of those picks. Just look at the difference between the Vikings trading Stefon Diggs and the Titans trading AJ Brown, both for 1st round picks. There was a large handful of very talented coverage safties in free agency last year, and we had the cap space for them. We just actively decided to ride with Nick Scott.

What kind of ridiculously dumb take is this? Now Evero may or may not be happy with his situation in Carolina, I have literally no clue. But his willingness to accept interest in a massive promotion to one of the most prestigious jobs in the entire country doesn't signal proof towards his feelings on the Panther in one way or another. I don't care if he's loving his time in Carolina; you don't pass up an opportunity like that. Not to mention, Evero is lucky to even be sniffing interviews. He's the coordinator for a middling defense that was historically bad under his watch just 1 year ago. He can't afford to turn down anything. And the Raiders with the #1 pick in the draft, is a better landing spot than at least a few of the openings regardless.

We were never going to offer him that kind of change. He hasn't really produced at the level of that deal until this past season. Of the top 10 AAV pass rushers, the only player with a lower career Sack/GM average is Josh Hines-Allen.

I think Burns was already slowly inching one foot out the door with the contract negotiations and then we traded a fortune for Bryce Young Brian and the rest of the team finally got an in person look at him in camp and he was like yeah get me out of here.

Not making excuses for him because he has made some really bad decisions at times (like last Saturday). And is ultra conservative with the defense. But compared to other teams he has been on, he has had the least amount of talent here.

Generally the only people going out of their way to loudly point out how passing yards are down are Bryce Young apologists here. Yes the yardage numbers for passing offenses may be lower in recent seasons at varying levels compared to 5 or 10 years ago but there were 6 QB's with 4k passing yards this season and there were two with over 3,900. The dialogue here is always revolving around spinning the fact that Bryce Young moves the ball through the air at a historically low rate. Only those people think it has to be that way.
