Bingo! Will history repeat itself or will we dip our toes in the QB rich 2027 draft class?

Could Morgan be eyeing Trey Hendrickson

Desperate teams do stupid moves like this. But it's not my money so have at it. -
Still not terrible. Ebbs and flows, man. They're offense has always been perceived that way. It's nothing new. Their two biggest, problems, in my mind, has been a lack of a WR1/2 most years and Pat Mahomes. They absolutely can address the first, but will just have to deal with the second. Ironically, I think that KC has that same issue. Buffalo may not have to deal with Mahomes next season either (at least not at his best), so it will be important for the new coach to hit the ground running. Newly promoted Brandon Beane has his work cut out for him.

At his age, pass. Wish he was 5 years younger. -
stuck the ball in his facemask. Took the jaws of life to get it out.

Peoples expectations for young QBs is just too high IMO. CJ Stroud is better than Bryce. But he's going to have days when he struggles, and going to New England and playing good ball in bad weather ain't easy. His performance was disappointing but long-term wise I still think he's going to be a damn good QB. It is just a hard position. One of the hardest, if not the hardest, in all of sports. Look at Mahomes' #s this past year, and we know how good he is. Not saying to forgive Stroud for how he played. But I remember stinkers that Peyton would put up in the postseason. Stroud isn't Peyton, but the point still stands. These games will happen to young QBs, especially in the postseason. It isn't abnormal.

25M for him feels crazy cheap. I’d pay that for 2 years

Got to save money for BY9 big contract -
As they should. He was truly abysmal yesterday and didn't really give them a chance to compete.

It just doesn't seem like it's Morgan's MO to get an older vet.. -
Hindsight being 20/20, we just went all in on the wrong QB class. We would've been far better off investing all those assets we spent elsewhere.
-
Neither, if we would have waited another year like I wanted we could have had our choice of 6 franchise QBs.

Acquiring Hendrickson won't be cheap. The NFL's sack leader in 2023 and 2024 should be in high demand on the open market, and the Bengals will likely allow him to explore other employment opportunities. It would be an all-in move from Morgan, but the rewards might be substantial as the Panthers look to get over the hump. Hendrickson is an elite pass-rusher. His relentless motor, exceptional technique, and violent hands make him a legitimate force that very few around the league can match. He may be 31 years old now, but there is nothing to suggest that he cannot keep performing well at the tail-end of his playing journey. According to Spotrac, Hendrickson is expected to command an annual salary of $25.44 million on a two-year, $50.89 million deal. The Panthers would have to move some money around to make it work, but now is the time to strike after winning the NFC South and making the playoffs in 2025. https://catcrave.com/panthers-might-be-sitting-bombshell-free-agent-splash-that-rattles-nfl?fbclid=IwY2xjawPbPhBleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZAwzNTA2ODU1MzE3MjgAAR72KbrmxZzxalgaGqf86zp1Y6dUeyZqW6GsWP5InhG1BFjr6EQ78felypdTnw_aem_jPLn7ptGlzbuMjk4aXXLLQ Yeah, no. No thank you. -
Here is how I see it: Hendrickson is 4-5 years past the normal prime for an edge rusher. However, the smart, elite edge rushers can play into their 30s. So we would be taking a risk against the odds. I see him as an elite, smart player, but in 2025, he only played an average of 15 snaps per game. We'd be paying him about 1.5 million per game, or $100,000 per snap at that rate. Hendrickson is 270, which makes him a guy who can rush inside or outside, hold the edge, and thus, be productive vs. the pass or run. We have 2 guys (Scourton and Jones II) who do that pretty well. Jones' salary is $10m. I see our need as a pass-rushing specialist, hoping that Princely picks up that role rotationally at least, in 2026. Here is what AI says about age, and it does not lie: An NFL edge rusher's prime typically falls between ages 24 and 28, with peak production often seen around 27, though elite players maintain high production into their early 30s, with some legends excelling even later, demonstrating that while decline can start, great pass rushers defy age norms and can sustain elite play. Peak Production Trends Early 20s (21-23): Players develop, with younger cohorts showing less immediate impact, but 23-year-olds often show significant pressure generation. Mid-to-Late 20s (24-28): This is the sweet spot, with the 27-year-old age group frequently leading the league in pressures and elite seasons occurring in this window. Early 30s (30+): While some decline begins, many top edge rushers remain highly effective, with stars like T.J. Watt and Myles Garrett demonstrating exceptional play well past 30, defying the average career trajectory. Key Factors Physicality & Technique: Edge rushers need strength and speed, but mastery of pass-rush moves often develops later, allowing for sustained success. Individual Variation: Elite players like Bruce Smith and T.J. Watt show that exceptional talent and health can extend prime years significantly, with some even having more sacks after 30 than before.

I just watched several nfl players break it down and this is NOT the case DJ was running a 20 yard out breaking crosser, he was supposed to flatten that route out.
-
Remember how we fired a coach for continuously taking us to the playoffs, but falling short of the Super Bowl? No? Me either.
-
Gentrified Cam Newton keeps failing his team and getting no heat for it. Excuses every step of the way and now got the best HC that franchise will see in decades fired
-
And still better than bryce across the board, one playoff game not withstanding.
-
Points allowed ranking over the past 4 years: 2nd, 4th, 11th, 12th Over the past two seasons, they've basically slid to an upper middle of the pack defense while their offense has trended more and more toward the "save me Superman QB" stuff we did with Cam. Their overall roster has absolutely been trending downward.
-
I know that you didn't necessarily mean it like that, but wouldn't it be something if they hired The Hoodie?
-
he couldn’t win it with Josh Allen . WTH he gonna do with Bryce lol . Yes i love Mcd but as a Defensive coordinator but he’s not coming here for that job . he deserves another shot at HC.
-
It depends on who they hire. It wouldn't be the first time another HC has come in and gotten a team over the hump. But, yeah, most owners are only going to wait so long to make a change they're getting similar results year after year with championship-caliber rosters, especially if they perceive the pressure of a closing window.
