Your Feelings on Bryce Through 3 Seasons? (POLL)
BritishPanther replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
Throughout the season I've flipped between 3-5. I've never felt he's above average. I can't remember where he sat statistically without looking it up, and my morning coffee hasn't kicked in enough yet for me to care too much. But he feels like a QB destined to be about 20-25th best starter across a season. Someone who is okay, but you'll never get somewhere as a franchise with him back there. To my mind he has fight in him and does make some good plays in critical drives. But he also makes a lot of bad throws that the good can't compensate for. I'm currently between 4-5. He's still missing reads, open throws and ball placement can be very inconsistent at times. And we're three years in now. Some throws he made last night were great, that TD pass was spot on and I think that's what causes a lot of discourse here. He has flashes of great mixed in with a lot of poor-average play. It's some bipolar QB play. It may be 3-4 years down the line he has that one great season in his career, but how long do you hang onto him for hoping that happens? Anyway, that's enough tired rambling from me. Peace to all of you, we go again next season. Keep Pounding! -
Carolina Panthers pick No. 19-2026 NFL Draft
Jackie Lee replied to PantherBoy95's topic in Carolina Panthers
Just going off the draft sims and he's always sitting around 20 lol. First year in a while where we haven't been thinking about the draft already in late October so haven't really looked into the top 15-20 picks yet. Also the qb class is super weak so he probably will sneak up into 10-15 -
Your Feelings on Bryce Through 3 Seasons? (POLL)
Hoenheim replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
I fully expect them to pick up his 5th year , and they're waiting for him to put a full excellent consistent season of QB play in year 4 or 5. If that don't happen, they'll eventually cut ties. Here's to hoping he just goes on a team in 2026. The worst thing he could do is continue to see-saw us to around .500 records because it might be impossible to replace him at that point unless youre willing to do the veteran qb carousel poo we did from 2019 to 2023. -

What do you think of Bryce Youngs career thus far? Are you excited about his progress or is it not enough for you? I included a poll of ranking his performance through 3 years thus far. I personally think he's made some decent progress. Has had some high moments (last half of 2024, Rams game, ATL game in 2025) but in my mind, those are still outweighed by the many more lowlights thus far (ex turnovers, missed throws, poor decisions) It's a very mixed bag for me. He's done enough to get a 5th year option but by no means should we lock him in with a 50+ mil a year multi year deal. I want to see him play consistently well for a full year before that happens (yes, I'm still saying that going into year 4. That might be telling). Just sucks when you see CJ Stroud, Jayden Daniel's, Caleb Williams almost immediately lighting poo up with their arm talent. Maybe Bryce is just an ultra slow burn. I don't know what to think anymore. Guess we're gonna be stuck with him for a whilr unless we end up being bad enough to earn a high pick next year. I doubted it lol. Overall Stats for his career: ● 14 W - 30L (regular season) ● 0-1 playoffs record ● 61.4% completion, 8291 passing yards, 49 TDs, 30 INTs Year 1: ● 2 wins, 14 losses ● 60% completion rate, 2877 passing yards, 11 TD to 10 INTs, 5.5 yards per attempted pass Year 2: ● 4 wins , 8 losses ● 60.9% completion rate, 2403 passing yards, 15 TD, 9 INTs, 6.3 yards per attempted pass Year 3: ● 8 Wins, 8 Losses ● 63.6% competition rate, 3011 passing yards, 23 TDs to 11 INTs Playoffs ● 1 game in year 3 ( 0 - 1 in playoffs) ● 21/40 (52.5% completion rate), 264 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.

It's honestly pretty interesting just seeing this pairing play out. Canales’ offenses (Seattle, Tampa) are run-first, under-center, play-action systems built around defined reads and intermediate/deep timing throws. That structure worked when he had QBs like Baker Mayfield or Russell Wilson in a system that created clear launch points and sightlines. His success has always been tied to a credible run game + play-action gravity. You can see that with the Panthers team building philosophy as well. Coker and TMac both are bigger receivers that won't get the best YAC production but thrive as possession receivers in contested scenarios. They're not the best in space and creating additional yardage in such, and would likely fair better systematically with a stronger armed QB who can create better opportunities on those boundary 1v1 matchups with stronger throws. Bryce, on the other hand, is a spread-native QB. His strengths are rhythm, spacing, quick processing, and off-script creation. Asking him to live in condensed formations with long-developing play-action concepts just hasn't been his forte. And well, his boundary throws are limited in velocity which takes a big chunk of the playbook off. And I mean a QB like Bryce can still work, it's just Dave's offensive philosophy and foundation is very much at odds with Young's physical limits and his own experience. So it's certainly still a learning experience for Dave to figure out how he can mesh his offensive philosophy with Young's strengths. He's very inexperienced with maximizing Bryce's strengths with his system. Would love to see us bring in an OC with spread experience and adaptability to implement a cohesive system with Dave to allow Bryce to thrive, as it's obvious we're sticking with him for a bit longer.

Only thing I really agreed with is questioning why we didn’t take any timeouts on their last drive. I know hindsight is 20/20, but I think it would’ve saved clock bc they were desperate to score as soon as the opportunity presented itself, but I also think it could’ve helped the defense regroup and maybe give us a better chance to stop them.

This Bryce Guy (General BY Discussion)
Jackie Lee replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
That last drive kinda ruined the rest of his performance for me. Shitty play calling yes but, you gotta try something besides basically throwing the ball out of bounds three times in a row when you have 3 time outs to burn and you only need to get into field goal range. I 100% thought we would be willing to burn all 3 time outs to at least get into a position to kick even a 65 yard field goal but.... -

I know we look at a few plays here and there but this Rams unit put up more pts against Seattle's elite defense. I think getting rid of Evero will be something we regret doing...we are just devoid of talent across the defense after investing YEARS in our offense.

Dave doesn’t sound too thrilled with the prevent
thebdawg replied to TylerDurden's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah and he plays Xavier fuging Legette. Shackles on canales and reich LOL. You mean the coach who had tampa bay a bottom third offense in his season there? And the coach who brought in the most laughably bad offensive scheme and play calling this franchise has ever seen? You are absolutely delusional -
It’s been a thing all year. Those PFF stats having him highly ranked in zone coverage early on made no sense. It was a problem for our intermediate zone game all year because the linebackers struggled in coverage as well. A lot of what people are complaining about Evero calling “prevent” defense is guys getting straight beat at that intermediate level which by design happens to line up with the sticks. But zone allows you to diffuse responsibility by allocating across areas rather than personnel and therefore limiting the damage from a mistake. We don’t have personnel to run bump n run man coverage. Getting beat doing that means watching our guy chase their guy on long routes down the field. And yea I mean, a better pass rush is the “rising tide that raises all ships”. Definitely have some pieces but player development and a key free agent could go a long way.
